Kerstin is not making you out to be wrong, just that YOU are responsible for actively involving yourself by commenting regardless of what you knew, and therefore the consequences is yours alone to deal with. As much as getting caught up in the heat of the moment is not wrong as such, it still doesn't excuse the fact that you could have just silently reported and said nothing more.
