I have a question... when somebody commissiones you for two peices.. on for them and one for their girlfriend/boyfriend... and you finish theirs and they like it...

then you find out they broke up with their boyfriend.. and you ask if they want a refund and they very clearly say NO.

Then they get back together and expect the other peice done...

o.o what do you do?

Ive been in that position before, but luckily, I knew of the breakup and polietly asked if I should go on with the pic or not. Why didn't they want a refund for the second pic? They broke up, and they still wanted it done? I would just get it done. If they're paying you for it, it doesnt matter if they broke up or not, just provide the image I guess.

Well, if they haven't already paid you for the second peice, ask for payment and finish it. If they already paid the full amount, I'd suppose you'd just finish it.

As long as all parties get what they want does it really matter?

Finish it. :) If they paid you for two pieces and don't want/need a refund, then that's all that matters, I guess...

Just curious, how much time passed between the 'no refund needed' and 'wait, no, do it now'? I can imagine that'd play a part in it.

Otherwise, yeah I'd just do the picture and get it overwith. Good luck!

that little amount of time? Just do the pic. It sucks that they did that to you, but it's not worth worrying bout, really. now, if it'd been a few months or more between thinking it was cancelled and having to do it anyway, You'd probably be able to ask for some extra funds to go ahead and do it.

They’ve paid for services rendered, so either you need to render that service, or force a refund on them if you really don’t have the time to do the commission anymore. That’s the only way to be fair in this situation. If you’ve been messed around, they should understand if you need to refuse the commission and refund them.

As long as you have permission to draw the character, just finish it.

Yeah, you should probably just finish it since you'd been paid for it. The commissioner sounds pretty indecisive though. :P
