Someone going by the name of Sue-Kitten on DeviantART, ~Anika-Candeh~ on Furcadia, made a particular journal entry brought to my attention through a link in her comments signature. I thought posting the offending text here would be the best course of action.

"This is really hurting me here people, I just wish the ones I commissioned would help me out here, And try to let the snobs know I pay! ALSO, I would like someone to tell me why they would go around saying shit about me stealing or like, Not paying if I don't like the portrait and not pay them, Its bull crap! I mean, Sure.. I would of been nice enough to pay them, But no, I wouldn't take the port because it wasn't what I wanted.. IF only people would do that, Come to me instead of spreading it around! *Frowns.* I feel like I am losing my mind! I can't take this fuck, And peace out!"

Be sure you know what you're getting into when you agree to accept a commission for this girl.

Though I did read the community userinfo attempting to make sure I understood the posting rules before posting, please let me know if there's anything I need to change/remove.

I'd say this falls under the rules pretty well - warning people about a potentially bad commissioner.

This person should KNOW better when ordering commissions - LOOK at the artist's previous work before ordering a port, fer chrissakes. If you fail to notice that the artist's standard work might not be what you're looking for and ask them to create a port for you anyway, at least pay them SOMETHING to compensate for their time! Christ! I KNOW Furcadia portraits generally don't sell for that much in the first place.

Well, I daresay this would-be commissioner is going to find herself unable to get commissions as easily as she once did now that she's posted that. I sure wouldn't do anything for her. Just because a finished work doesn't meet the buyer's standards doesn't mean the buyer can just back out of an agreement to pay up (and I suspect that her definition of "shit" wasn't shit at all and was work that had a lot put into it).

Drawing is work, for some people (not me) it's their JOB. Do a little research, if you don't like their style, don't waste their time...

I drew this for her and I never heard from her again. You mean it might have been because she didn't like it?? If that was the case, she never said so. NOT A WORD. I'd be SUPER cautious if that is her habit. It simply leaves one confused. Take a look at my sketch and decide for yourself whether you think her standards are a little backwards. This is what she calls shit art.

Looks to me like someone's just trying to cheat artists out of free art. -_- If she considers that "shit art" (which it definitely isn't) she ought to at the very least say so and ask it to be re-done, and then let the artist decide whether or not they can do that or would rather give a refund.

It's people like this girl that make me insist on up-front payments.

I'm prone to bouts of swearing in my own personal (and private) space, but I would never, EVER do work for someone who uses language like that blatantly and "loudly" in a public space - and expects it to bring them sympathy. it's a sign of immaturity and general unpleasantness.

Well I like how she states that she'll now be commissioning "more talented" artists. Why? Because I'll say it'll be a case of no, she won't if they have any sense. Most wouldn't allow her to commission in the first place, because any self-respecting artist that has faith in their talent should be taking at least SOME money up front. Though with this girl I'd require half up-front, not after a sketch - why waste time giving a sketch first only for her to decide it's crap?

When you're commissioning artists, you can't expect 100% perfection. You might have a vision in your own mind, but unless you're artistic enough to express it yourself, *exactly* the way that you see it in your own mind, you're going to have to settle for something "substandard." (When I say "substandard," I mean it most likely won't be 100% accurate to what you yourself see in your mind - though an artists' method of portraying your character might turn out BETTER than you had in mind!) I don't understand why some commissioners don't get that.

Its only logical to commission an artist who's work you REALLY LIKE/admire. If she expects the commission to end up EXACTLY how it is in her head everytime, then this is bound to happen often. Its amazing how she doesn't even want to WORK with the artist.

Thanks for posting this. She really DOES deserve to be complained about really, especially since she's so incredibly rude.

Now, to be fair, a lot of artists want to offer a sketch before accepting payment because they've had a LOT of trouble with people who say they want a commission, then get grouchy and demand a refund if it isn't done in a day or two. And other reasons.

She IMed me on AIM back in December, asking me if I was accepting commissions. I was at that time, and not only did I explain why my terms and conditions were, but I showed her my webpage that said practically the same things, as well as showed some examples and linked back around to my Deviant Art gallery, where she had originally found me. I had never heard of the girl before. I told her I'd accept her commission, and told her to email me with all the information, references, ect. that I'd need in order to draw her character. She did that, and I created a sketch for her because that's how I work things. She accepted the sketch as is and also accepted the price. She told me she'd send me a money order as payment. After waiting for it for several weeks, I emailed her asking her if she had sent the money order. She replied by saying she "must have forgotten" to. I accepted that, as some people are forgetful. Me being one of them. She promised to have it mailed within that week. I waited again, and it never showed up. I emailed her again, and she said she'd send it as soon as she could. At this point, I dropped it. The sketch wasn't THAT much trouble anyway, and I had other orders to fill. But then, some time later she IMed me AGAIN. I told her she still hadn't paid for that commission, and then she told me that she'd pay for it the 3rd of the following month. That month has since come and gone with no payments received.

If she didn't like my work, she should never had commissioned me. She found on my DA, so she knows good and well what kind of work I do. What I drew for her was NOT a Furcadia portrait. I did a full body character drawing for her. The price for those is $20, take it or leave it. She ACCEPTED both the sketch and the price.

I'd also like to mention that she has been BANNED from Deviant Art TWICE. In fact, her new account is in violation of DA's ban evasion terms. I'll be reporting her, just because I'm tired of her ways. It probably won't stop her, though.

That is kinda what I meant. I'd never take a commission from her and I'm a bit of flake on commissions myself but at least I remember what I owe people and usually make it up even if it might take me a bit of time.

Agreed, I've have people who have told me I've made what they were picturing look tonnes better. I think ultimately some people like this girl are a bit entitled, she thinks she's in the right for commissioning but refusing to take "shitty" art, she's even been abusing me for pointing out that people aren't telling lies if she really hasn't paid them. Basically, she's got the view that if things don't go her way then "they" are mean.

I've never been able to find any site or anything where she's keeping these. But it's highly possible she has a "character profile" page like a lot of Furcadia players keep. She's probably keeping all the sketches there. Or maybe she inked and colored them herself? I dunno. I've never really looked into it, but I think I might just do it now.

But at the same time, if you give a sketch, she's got her free artwork. If she's really as picky as she says she is, then a mere sketch wouldn't be "enough" (remember, they need to be "skilled" enough to do it "right" the first time) and then that would've been time wasted on the part of the artist.

Sadly, some people and some businesses... well, you can get free stuff if you complain enough about how sucky your last one was. Like, unusually sucky. Some people are firm, and won't give out free stuff except for very special circumstances. Lots of fast food places seem to take on this matra, of 'the customer is always right, we don't want them mad, placate them at all costs.'

So really, I can totally see someone buying an egg mcmuffin, complaining that it was shitty/cold/had a hair in it/whatever, and getting another one (granted, she's paid for the first one, but still.)

Rat: "Weeeeell... okay, I guess I can work with this, but I'd really rather you fill in the form I sent you, that way I have all the information I need."
Her: "OKAY! God! Just do the port!"
Rat: "... okay, well, I've started on the line-art for it."
Her: "DAMNIT Okay NOT THAT character! God you're stupid! It's THIS character! *sends another furcadia desc about a 13-year-old-sex-slave*"
Rat: "Not only are you an ignorant GIT for expecting someone to jump-snap to your commands when you speak like a foul-mouthed little child, but if you'd READ my RULES you'd know I don't draw portraits for Pedo-candy, and a 13-year-old prostitot falls into that category. Feel free to find someone else to do the work."
Her: "OH MY GOD! But please do me the port please!"

She's "gotten" a lot of people, many many times over. The only reason she still comissions work, and has people accept, is that a friend of hers runs a blacklist, and if you drop her you run the risk of being blacklisted through some warped act of solidarity.

Mmmm I play furcadia actually, I run one of the biggest rp groups there, and I've had alot of comission work as well as entire port patch set done for TGT (my rp dream)

She is noctioriously well known for getting free art off people, as well as -stealing mony from her grandmother to pay for it-

Im not sure how legit that last statement is. But if she's been banned from DA once Im sure they'd like to know she's back on.

I'll keep a warning posted about her to any and all furc artists out there, she's sweet till she dosn't get what she wants and its imidiate "OMG" attitude.
