This community also accepts reports of art theft. If you find art theft, it will be GREATLY encouraged to post the link and the artists' stolen works.

just a header.

I am the victim of art and identity theft. Just to let everyone know about this user. I am trying to find out more about her/im so I can be sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

my gallery: http://lougaraswifthart.deviantart.com/

she has stolen my most recent badge of my own char and a traditional piece of my char that was also a commission for [livejournal.com profile] lupercus_wuff

I really don't know what else to do. S/he is being incredibly rude to my friends and is making a mockery of the name I have been trying to establish for almost six years. I have already reported her/im, but as usual, the admin of dA is sitting on their butts, not caring at all.

I was just letting everyone know, and asking for advice as to what to do.

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, I'm afraid that the admins who actually did anything are being removed one by one so the lazy-ass jerkoffs don't look bad by comparison and they won't have to remove their thumbs from their asses.

You can leave a link to your page and renew it every time it's pushed off, but odds are DA will get bitchy about "harassment" even though they should boot off the thief.

Try to avoid actual harassment though, the comparison of galleries speaks for itself.

Oh but my eye does spy the copious use of words like "slut", "bitch" and "whore".
Try reporting her for that?

Be sure to lay on the "OMG THINK OF THE CHILDRUUUUUUN!"

First thing to do is report her to DA admins. You've done that, even though it appears they're doing nothing. They might actually be doing nothing, or they might be working their way around to it. How long has it been?

The second thing to do is post here. Done.

The third thing to do is email your friends, espeically the ones she's been rude to, and point out that it wasn't you. Point out the blatant name theft, and apologize for their trouble. It's not your fault, but apologize and say you're trying to do something, which you are.

Next, add a sig file or something and use it in your emails and journal entries. Make sure you point that out to your friends, too. If it's in an email, it'll be especially hard for this girl to realize what it is and copy it - the only way is if someone gives it to her. This can be your "secret code" to show that it's really you and not her.

Lastly, make a journal entry in your DA account. Word it carefully so it's not an attack - then you're in the wrong and DA can take action against YOU - but point out what's going on.

Can't really think of anything else to do. Good luck.

Well, at least it gives you rather strong evidence that SHE is the one who is wrong, and not you. For all to see really.

I'd be afraid of her. She's going to get one of her friends at school to hack someone elses computer for bad-mouthing her. That's terrifying.

¬.¬

Sarcasm is my friend.

Seriously though, this is really harsh. What drives a person to do this? It would be nice to think that perhaps this is a high form of flattery... but it's not. It's childish, immature insecurity from an individual that desperately wants to be someone else.

Sorry, I'm not being much help here. I'm mostly shocked that people like this *actually* exist. The Human Condition never ceases to amaze me.

Good luck fighting the good fight with this one.

Right now you're doing all you can do. -- Tell the admins, tell your friends, make it noticed, but don't attack.

I wish you much luck, hon. Sorry something like this happened to you. *puts you on watch list*

I'm sorry...I want to say this on DA, but I'll get banned for "harassment"...but BOY is this person ever stupid! I've seen art theft before, but none this...so badly planned! I know it must hurt for you, and it's prolly hard to laugh, but think about it....stealing a commission? I mean, what if you keep records/receipts/emails? That's solid evidence.

Another piece of solid evidence if you need it, though...the signature is clearly spelled "lougAraswifThart", capitals for emphasis. Now tell me, why would the real artist choose to spell their name WRONG, instead of just adding a dash (-), which is a legal character in DA names? More to the point, why would the real artist take out TWO letters if they wanted to spell the name wrong, when one would do the trick?

I feel...really bad. >.

Looks more like a troll to me. We all have people that don't like us - and I certainly wouldn't put it past people to go to the trouble of creating an account, reposting art, and making it /really obvious/ that they are a troll.
I reported both deviations as a policy violation, and also mentioned that he/she's harrassing you and threatening other people with illegal actions.
Best you can do is just go about it in a business like manner, report what you need to report, and call it a day.
This person obviously isn't a theif trying to get away with it, but a troll trying to intentionally get you rowled up.

Having it happen on average 5-6 times a year now, all I can do is ignore it. They aren't gaining profit, and it's pretty obvious that they're stealing. This person isn't worth your anger, or your effort. Just report her and ignore her =). In the end it's the lack of attention that hurts them the worst.
