"Much as I'm loathe to do this, I really have to make a post regarding Starfinder.

In September last year I purchased a print of "Heart of Glass" from Starfinder. It arrived within a month, but to my disappointment, it was of an extremely low quality - very off-colour and blotchy. Starfinder was very obliging about replacing the print and within 24 hours, she had sent me photos of the new print, which looked excellent. And so, the replacement was supposed to be mailed out.

I'm still waiting.

I'd been in touch many times to ask about where it is, and I've been told it hadn't been sent, it was packed up, her mother forgot to mail it, she had lost my address, and more recently (the past few months) I've had no response at all. In May, she apologized and said that she had also made a con badge which she had packed in with the print, but I've not had a response since then. I've tried email and LJ comments to no avail. In the past, I contacted her via AIM but I really don't want to have to go on to complain at her again and get fobbed off again.

I really just want to receive the print, but I'm tired being ignored, and this seems like the only way to go. Sorry, Starfinder, but I stuck up for you over your past problems and this is not a good way to treat your customers at all.

I noticed SF blames her mother a LOT for her problems. :/
If SF is going to run a respectable business, she needs to do things for HERSELF, and quit relying on Mommy. Really. Southern California has a zillion post offices and postal service centers like Mailbox Etc. Get a ride with a friend and do your mailing YOURSELF, instead of making Mom your slave.

Heh, that's what one of her many excuses to me was when I bought $50 worth of art from her. She said she gave the originals to her mom "to ship out" to me but she "probably lost them".

Seeing as she goes to highschool (or went? Dunno if she's still there) a good 5 minutes from my house, and there's a post office a good 5 minutes from the school...you'd think she'd manage to find some way to get there herself.

Korrok should ask for a photo or scan of that conbadge, I don't trust it when she says that she'll 'make it up' to a customer by doing extra art for them, after the -problem- is waiting for art from her to begin with.

It seems like Starfinder gets more complaints than all the other artists put together, and STILL people will give her money and commission her. Human behavior is so very, very odd....

I've noticed that, in this fandom especially, there are more than a few people that think that any individual being maligned is actually a saintly angel unfairly judged by the masses, no matter what the issue or evidence. For reference, recall the various, "But Sibe has changed!" protestations that appeared when his name came up.

I can't speak for everyone (duh!) but I recently requested an LJ icon commission (this very icon in fact) and I got it quickly and it was exactly what I wanted... I hope this incident can be resolved quickly; I've noticed that Starfinder seems to be working hard to repair her reputation and is trying to build a good one. Um, the end!

Yeah, she is, with recent commissions. I think its the older ones from a year or more ago that seem to be the problem though. I admit her recent output has been good..just...needs to work on the much much older stuff >_o

Tell Korrok I'm sorry she got ripped, while I've never met this chick in person she seems to have a really bad reputation. I find it unlikely that she will get her items, I think she should try asking for a refund and see how that goes.

But hey... I'd give her a shot.

Hell, I copy comic characters at times... it refines my skills. Not like it is my intent to steal this image, I'm just all like 'Omg... my skills are mad' feeling, even though it isn't original, not implying hers is or not, but it gives me the joy that I can have the potential to actually draw something like this quality and style one day... and then make it better.

Hmm while occasionaly I take insperation from other artwork, maybe I see a pose I really like, it's one thing to see a pose and redraw it on your own for your personal use at home and completely another to put paper ontop of another person's image and trace it for sell.. D= I don't know if she does that or not but if she does then I deffinatly don't approve.

It's such a shame to see that she's still doing this sort of crap. There are plenty of artists out there who are striving to be at the same level as her, and she does this to her reputation!

It's sad to see that she's letting the money that she can earn with her talent get in the way of being a genuinely good person.

I am not part of this community yet, but my attention has been brought to that and I finally feel, like I can speak about this.

I hear more and more negative stuff about Starfinder lately and I wish I had known that before, because my friends and I have made bad experiences with her as well years ago.

Somebody I know waits for a commission from her for over three years, with the last update being presented one year ago.

A really skillful friend of mine had an art trade with her... probably four years ago and never recieved his part.

As for me, I also had an art trade with her and back then I really put a lot of effort into my piece, adding multiple characters and even things I had trouble with drawing and she never cared to finish or restart my trade. She had something started and said, that her computer had died and the file along with it, but meanwhile I dare to doubt it. She didn't even answer any of messages I wrote her, asking her, whether or not she will ever care to finish her part of the trade.

Also she was very unreliable to work with, when I made the mistake to invite her to a group portfolio. She didn't back out officially, she just all of a sudden started ignoring me and that's what she's doing a lot.

It is upsetting me to see, how she finishes a few commissions here and then, which are actually only the tip of the iceberg, but those are enough to attract enough fangirls and fanboys to provide her with money again for another while...

Sounds like envy, but it's frustration about unfair behaviour.

I think this girls problem is that she is WAY to talented for being so young, and just got way over her head and has no ability to handle her business at all. Its a shame because her work is so stunning, but I guess that is what happens when you try to get way over your head when you are not mature enough to handle it. I will never buy a thing from her unless I was at a con, and it was a print. I would NEVER EVER commision her.

One thing I can say in the defense of Starfinder is that she/he lives in Taft, that place has nothing. But thats about all I can say in defense. Crappy about everything else.

Lives in Taft? You mean goes to Taft. The only Taft city that I'm aware of in CA is way off in Kern County. She does go to Taft Highschool though. Which is a pretty crappy school, but in a very nice area. I live in the same area and fail to see how the location affects her business. So, not really sure what you mean by "that place has nothing."
