[identity profile] filthy-animal.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] artists_beware
Just a small update on my last post, regarding [livejournal.com profile] yuchiangel aka [livejournal.com profile] ringtailocelot (for half a day).

I never said "don't trust this person ever and never do art trades or anything with them". I simply called them out on their lies and pointed to evidence of the lies, for other artists to decide whether or not to trust her in the future. That's what this community is for, isn't it? Heck, she's probably fine at art trades, but I wouldn't know from experience, it's just a guess.

I cannot control the actions of everyone else in the community. I did not force others down at their keyboards to make fun of her art, her character design, or anything else about her. In fact, I've been out of state at my boyfriend's house ignoring the internet for the most part since I made the post here, so I barely was able to join in anyway.

As an update, she HAS apologized within that post, and in the [livejournal.com profile] con_badges post (though deleted a comment), a few times, even if her stories and excuse-making does change. That counts for something. I meant no hard feelings by my post, and I still don't, but a lie is a damn lie and fellow artists deserve to know.

Filthy, I like Yuchi, and even I think you were totally justified in making this post. It was a hard lesson for her to learn, but I think she'll be a better person for it in the end.

And yes, this community is EXACTLY for this purpose. Becase furry art is such a cottage industry, and it has it's fair share of freaks, it's GOOD that artists are willing to alert others about potential scams. Thumbs up, my friend!

Agreed.

Of course it's one-sided, this is what the community is here for.

So what's the point of this post?

a certain person got butthurt because the warning was posted in both the conbadges community, as well as the community, and they thought it was too harsh, yet perfectly okay for yuchi to lie. *shrugs*

Yeah I read that, but I'm not sure why Filthy needs to reassure us of this. Ocelot or whoever is the only one butthurt about it.

I don't know Yuchi. The only time I've ever had contact with her is when she told me she liked my badge in [livejournal.com profile] conbadges this month and asked if I had an FA acct.

Then I saw your entry, and I thought, "huh...that's weird," but all I saw was that she pretended to be someone else having a contest.
She's still having the contest, BTW. Just hosting it herself now, instead of having an alternate persona do it.
I don't know why she did it. Fuck, maybe she thought that people would be more liable to enter if they thought it was a surprise gift for someone instead of just people thinking, "oh, another shitty contest."

None of the people commenting on either of your entries were even THINKING about entering except Anjel. Probably just Yuchi's friends would have entered.
I see where you're coming from with warning people. I see what you did there. I'm actually kind of grateful that you did it.
BUT.

I don't see how Anjel is one-sided. I don't see how you making this post is proving that you aren't.
I see Anjel trying to say what I said in this post...Yuchi was misguided, but really wasn't hurting anyone. She has come through with trades in the past, and if she didn't come through with contest prizes, the people who won her contest would post about how they didn't recieve their contest prizes. It's not really fair to Yuchi to say "SHE LIED ABOUT BEING SOMEONE ELSE, SO SHE PROBABLY WON'T MAKE WITH THE ART".

Do not try to tell me that you weren't saying that, because you advertised your post as someone SCAMMING PEOPLE TO GET FREE ART. After reading Yuchi's ocelot post, I read your post and I was CONFUSED as to why you were saying she was trying to SCAM people when she had quite clearly stated she was going to do reward prizes.
If you don't think Yuchi's art merits a good prize, don't enter.

This post you're making here is just to stir up shit with Anjel. It's just so you can stick this post in her face and say "LOOK, ANJEL, I'M NOT ONE-SIDED".
You know how I know? Because you mention in comments you're replying to people with that that's why you made the post.

Personally, I find it really petty of you.

And just so you know...I'm not coming here because Anjel told me to. I'm not a big shit-stirrer of drama in the furry community, and I'm not making this post to take up for Anjel because she's my friend. I'm making this comment because this is what I see.
If the person being...well...attacked is too strong of a word, but you get the picture...here was someone that I didn't know at all, I'd still make this post. I just don't find it very appealing that you would first halfway ruin someone's reputation over a stupid contest when she would have been found-out eventually anyway, and then try to "prove" that that's not really what you were doing.

I'm really rambly when I type, so I hope this comment actually makes the point I'm trying to make. :/

Also, one other thing...I didn't see Anjel say, in specifics, that you were "one-sided". I saw you say it...but unless she typed the phrase "one-sided," you can't put it in quotes as though she said it.

If she did say it, show me the quote and I shall be proven wrong. In which case, I apologize.

Yah, okay. It's all good. (:

I know that you didn't say anything directly derrogatory towards Yuchi, but simply posting this is going to make people associate "Yuchi" with "artists_beware" even if they don't remember what she was posted on here for! I know that's happened to me before...I'll remember I saw someone posted about on a_b, but I won't remember what for...it still puts doubts in my mind about them.

As for Yuchi, I wasn't going to enter her contest...too busy...but after I saw your post, I thought, "Oh, I'm GLAD I didn't enter that!" All I saw was "free art scam" and that's what clicked...later, I had time to go back and read and I found out that's not what it meant at all!

"I never said Anjel was one-sided, either."

I did see you say "And I'm the one-sided one..." or something to that effect. ;)

Anyway, I really hope this doesn't greatly affect Yuchi's reputation. I was lucky enough that I didn't make any of my mistakes online when I first joined the fandom, but truth be told...
>.>
<.<
I first got into this fandom by tracing Goldenwolf's work. D:
GASP!
I didn't claim it as mine or anything like that, but I did colour it with different colours. My character looked like something she'd draw almost...it had the strange marks around the eyes and everything.
Now, I see the error of my ways, and my style looks NOTHING like her's, but if I had even so much as posted one of my recolours, I'm sure I would have been jumped on, and probably labeled as a thief. :O I'm certain it wouldn't have ended well.

The moral of the story is...we all make dumb mistakes...I don't think our reputations should be condemned because of one stupid thing. I see so many people in the first post saying "oh, I'll steer clear of Yuchi, thanks for the warning," and that just shouldn't happen because of something like this.

There I went, getting all rambly and stupid again. D:

*chuckles* I got my start by doing similar things to Lion King art. XD I think EVERYONE has done it at one point or another. :)

Yah, and really...a lot of people still do the Lion King style. That's not such a big deal, but I was actually tracing. :O Big nono in this community.
After I got the anatomy somewhat down, I started just eyeballing things, and eventually, quit using her work as reference all together...I guess it turned out okay since I eventually developed my own style anyway, but I could have turned out a copycat of Goldie. Drawing the same style and the same things...
But maybe then, I would have gotten more commissions! :D
