[identity profile] wolven-remorse.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] artists_beware
Updating on: http://community.livejournal.com/artists_beware/126548.html

The Nameless fursuit maker is: Rose Quoll.

My mate and I sent a formal letter two monthes ago with the AUS. Embassy backing us the whole time. It was a letter stating what we want to happen so no court action will be used.

The response was as follows: ... NOTHING.

She has cut contact with us completely and made it clear she doesn't intend to refund or make the suit. She has been ripping off quite a few others ( as I've been told since the last post ). Though everyone is afraid to speak because she has, like she has done to me, threatened them to keep them quiet.

I am pretty sure there is no way I am going to get my $600.00 back at this point, but I would like people to spread the word that Rose Quoll is a con-artist in my book. If this makes other furs ( such as Rose Quoll supporters ) hate me and flame me, then so be it. I would rather get the message out there then see someone else suffer like I have.

Anyone who would like to add their own story about Rose Quoll below; feel free. It might convince others out there that this is a serious issue.

And sadly, I will have nothing for AnthroCon, like I had dreamed nearly a year and some monthes ago when I had first paid for this suit.

Thank you for all your support,
--Kiyoshi & Banzai Purrlop

That's one of the saddest things I can think of, really, that somebody who has done such beautiful work, and who seemed like such a nice person, would chose to treat her customers like that. I am really sorry to hear it. If I could possibly add another suit to my workload, I'd try and get you something for anthrocon, but unfortunately I've got way too much on my plate.

Would you like a tail though? If I can make one from fabric I have on hand, I would be happy to make one for you at no cost, at least you'd have something fun to wear!

Unfortunately this is the case with a lot of artists. I don't commission folks who have ugly attitudes no matter how nice their work is because of this.

I haven't dealt with her on suits.

I wanted to for the longest time and now i'm glad I didn't.

Had same sort of problem with her on art though not as harshly and I did get a refund good luck.

I hope you can get the suit of your dreams from someone who isn't so selfish, someday!

im not afraid to comment on Rose. shes a good friend of mine and ive gotten 2 suits from her. in fact, i was very happy with my suits and recommended her to a couple of people who commissioned suits from her as well.

i will admit that she seems to have gotten into the habit of biting off more than she can chew. taking on more suits than she can handle in a reasonable amount of time and as such, shes getting more and more delayed in finishing them. i dont condone that and i cant give a reason for it because i honestly dont know.

to some degree, i can understand her frustration with some customers because she gets alot of emails asking for updates, asking questions, complaining about the delays and some that are just plain harassing. add that with stress and the frustration of being a perfectionist who has taken on too much work and you have someone who clearly needs a break or else they have a breakdown.

youre not the first person ive heard from that claims they were ignored but when i asked Rose if she received those emails she seemed genuinely shocked and claimed that her email has probably been eating her messages. it happens.

im not saying that what happened was right by any means. all i can say is that she ended up in a situation where she had too much on her plate (and still does). im currently waiting for footpaws, claws and a rebuilt head, but i know her work is good and i dont mind waiting.

Just because one person is nice to you doesn't make them nice to everyone else. People can put on different masks for whom they are talking to. I'm not saying that Rose is doing this, I'm simply saying don't rule it out because it does happen ^.^

As far as being contacted several times and being stressed, as a person whom takes commissions she should expect it. People have a right to contact her several times, especially with no response. If she cannot handle the stress she needs to make some major refunds and not take commissions anymore. When I get someone commissioning me I EXPECT several e-mails until I am done, in fact I down right hope for it because they have a right. When I commission someone I do e-mail them several times to see where my commission is at, and I even warn them before hand that it's my money, and I like to be careful, therefore I can be a lousey person to do a commission for.

Anyway, my point is there is really no excuse for how she is acting. I hope she is sweet like she is to you and she pulls through, but it's not looking good.

And please don't take anything I said as being rude, I'm trying to be nice :D

Joy

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I'm going to start keeping a list of fursuit makers who've had troubles like this. Just... so that all the names and claims and stories can be summarized in one place. I'm probably inviting a heap of drama by doing so, but there really needs to be just one place where it's all at. (So if anybody else has any fursuit commissioning troubles, they can contact me, spark.costumes@gmail.com) I might consider doing a general artist list too, but that's a much bigger project.

I've also commissioned a Partial suit from Rose. I've sent her an e-mail like a few weeks ago about not being able to make the payment by June 15th and to take me off of the AC list. She responded that it's alright and stuff. I do still want my suit from her, but that's going to be after AC.

I can also see the fustration that you are going through Kiyo. *hugs* I'm here for ya. ^_^

Goodness gracious. I've heard a lot of horror stories coming out of that girl, and not just about fursuit making, but more along the lines of the generally nasty attitude she cops when dealing with people.

I wanted a suit from her, it was going to be a partial trade but eh..never happened, lack of communication on both parts. I'm glad I didn't follow through, no doubt I would have ended up having to get my angry on.

I hope you get your suit, but if the AUS embassy is backing you, does this mean you can take legal action? What about paypal action? I dunno, I'd go through more than just furry means to sort this out if I were you.

And as far as threats go, what can she do to you?

I ordered won her contest for some fursuit pieces last year as well as bought the rest of it so I could get a full halfsuit and I have to say.. she has never ignored any of my e-mails except one time when something had obviously happend because no one was receiving my e-mails. I ordered it for october 2006 but since then rose has had MANY complications with her life and I understand why it was not finished by then, she had to move to a new house out of nowhere pretty much and her fursuit work wasn't enough to pay the bills so she has had to take on some other jobs, and a result I told her I could wait till January to get it. well because of the move and everything. all the suits that were not finished beforehand got pushed into the time when mine and the other people who needed theirs done would have been so she tried as hard as possible to get them all done, but could not. She took on wayyy too much and she knows she did. I told her not to worry and that I will wait till October 2007 for it. I have never had a problem with her responding to any of my questions though. :/ or e-mails or anything. Maybe send a e-mail through another e-mail address in case gmail is putting it into spam. (SOMETIMES IT'S TOO EFFICIENT! XD)

sorry you're having so many troubles but there are a lot of people waiting and I have to say.. she has some pretty good reasons for being so very late, but I know she is avidly working on ALL of them right now. Also I know if you want a refund or something, she'll probably be fine with it.

Wow, I like a lot of the other people here, have been wanting to save up money for a suit from her. I've seen her suits and how gorgeous they are and the people that I have seen that have gotten them have been happy with what they got and thought it was well worth the price.

Though... also, I think that these were people that were friends with her and the like. Even so, I don't think it's right for her to give friends better treatment than others.

It's sad really. I'll have to look elsewhere when looking to get my suit. Thank you for posting this and I hope that friends of Rose Quoll won't be too hard on you for posting your story/experience. Hope it works out for you in the end.

Look elsewhere, really.

I've seen the actual WORK on her suits, and how quickly they fall apart...with normal use.

Say, one night?

And this was after being promised to get the suit out before eurofurence, before eurofurence...um...AT eurofurence...not at eurofurence..six months LATER at another convention...it finally arrived...was NOT to specs...and promptly fell apart.

i feel your pain. i lost $400 to a plush artist (blaque tygriss). that kind of money HURTS to lose.

my own dealings with rose hasn't made a big impression on me. i gave her a lj community under the impression that she was very excited to make it into some lively and thriving... she promptly too cut contact with me after taking it and that community has died even worse than when i was admining it.

I would never treat any of my customers like that, of course- its abhorred, but I can understand the source of frustration. Anyways, I was also going to offer a tail or something o,O Ya beat me to the punch, and growwly's doing ears. So, uh.. I can say hi or make a conbadge for you or something :P
I'd also be interested in seeing any blacklist, SPark(Mostly to see if I'd made the list :P Schizoid paranoia and all that), and I have a few 'customer additions' to add to the list.

I know this is a REALLY old post but I thought I'd go ahead an add something in here.

A while back Rose had a contest last year where artists could draw her character as a different species, and a panel of judges would pick the winner and they'd win a free head. Well, I am always booked solid for commissions, as well as working a regular full-time job, so I have no free time at all. However, I decided to somehow squeeze in a contest picture and I spent a ton of time on a piece and submitted it to Rose. I can't remember if she replied back about the picture, but it doesn't matter. Anyways, time passed and there was no update about the contest. No winners announced... a year later and still nothing, at least to my knowledge. So, I wasted all of MY time and my CLIENTS time and potential income on joining her contest for nothing. I'm not really too pissed about it anymore, after all it was a year ago, but I'd still like to know if anything ever came out of that contest. I hope *someone* won something from her. :/ Even if she couldn't complete the winner's head in time... all she would have to do is make contact and let them know what was going on. She has an obligation to the people who entered that contest and let them know what's going on. She's so sweet and I really do think that, but still, that whole contest thing was bull crap. Hopefully, I missed the winner's announcement and someone got a nice head from her, because her suits really are beautiful. I still have my contest entry photo on FA.
