[identity profile] tayit.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] artists_beware
Hi,

Just wanted to post this here as somebody who likes to get commissions done, and I'd like to share one artist in particular with whom is an absolute gem to work: Watergazer. I've received commissions from her before without any hassles; she's very enthusiastic and with her commissionees every step of the way, from prelim sketches through completion. Her pricing is also very reasonable; I've offered her far more money than what she asks for con badges/sketchbooks simply because A: her work is that good, and B: she really is hurting for money at the moment (med bills). She is also a great person to work with when it comes to payment; she is very understanding and if one asks nicely, Gazer will do payment plans for commissions.

I am waiting for a con badge from her as I post to the community. As far as I know she is still accepting commissions (not sure about con badges, though) and will be up until about MFF. Check out her FA page for info on that since I have a poor memory sometimes, ^_^.

So, in conclusion...Watergazer is a great person to commission and never fails to deliver, so don't be afraid to approach her with a commission idea; she's pretty accepting of a fair amount of things and if given creative license will come up with some pretty neat things of her own!

Could you post this on [livejournal.com profile] artistrecommend too. It will be good for the people that go on there looking for good artists to commision

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you asked to stop spamming this community with mentions of YOUR community? It's rude.

...as a matter of fact, now that I double-check, your community is already mentioned in the userinfo of artist_beware. That should be more than enough advertisement.

Some people don't always read the user info :(
I was just trying to be helpful
You need not be rude yourself

Well I suppose I could make a post about it int he community asking people to post there since not as many people know about it. I'm just trying to make sure there is a concise list of actually good commissioners and artists, so people don't have to scroll through all sorts of posts about bad ones to find the good.
I'm sorry then... I hadn't known it was angering people so much. I was just trying to be helpful

Yes, but... you were already asked to stop with the constant advertising on every recommend post, correct? Surely you gathered from that request that people didn't appreciate the spam. You can't claim ignorance.

Its been a while so I honestly forgot that people had been irritated by the spam. I had thought I was only trying to be helpful in making sure that the positive recommendations all got pooled into one spot that would make it easier for people to find good artists or check up on the reputations of certain commissioners in the positive sense, especially from people I hadn't seen post here before.

Can you find the post I was asked to stop on. I'm a little fuzzy on when this happened myself ...Not saying it didn't but I wasn't sure if it was another member or the mod herself...

No, unfortunately I can't seem to dig it up either. (Although I did find a few dates that were listed as having posts that led to nothing, so who knows where it is?) You could be right, maybe it was another member who said it and not a mod as I thought.

That was what I was thinking. I don't think the mod has a problem with me politely asking people to also cross post their positive feed back to AR, otherwise I think she would have already told me to stop.

i believe i found it: http://community.livejournal.com/artists_beware/115911.html?thread=2398919#t2398919 (http://community.livejournal.com/artists_beware/115911.html?thread=2398919#t2398919)

sorry, i would've posted with it sooner, but i wasn't sure if [livejournal.com profile] drake_anaya was actually a mod or not, because they're not currently on the profile and i'm a forgetful bastard. i found the waybackmachine.org (http://web.archive.org/web/20060930023552/http://community.livejournal.com/artists_beware/profile) grab of the profile from september, though, and it answered that question.

Well aren't you a rude little shit.

This person has "too much free time on their hands" because they retrieved a link YOU were too lazy to go find and ASKED FOR?

Logic? What?

The Irony of you calling someone else rude.
But I suppose you're right. The moderator settled this already, so do you think it is entirely necessary to keep it going?

Just going to poke my nose in here to (hopefully) settle this. I do think that promoting your community in various entries is a little unnecessary considering it is in the profile and this community also allows positive feedback. So yeah, avoid doing that. ;)

Also: you reminded me that I've been meaning to organize the memories more. I'll add a positive feedback category in the memory to save time for people looking for good commissioners/costumers.

Last I recall this community is to warn ppl about flaked artists . There is a separate community for reccomendations.

I could be wrong if recomendations are allowed here also but with a name like artists beware vs artists reccomend I thought this was a warning group.

Remove by all means if im in the wrong making this comment.

Its sort of for both from what I can tell. I agree it would make life easier all around if we could keep the good to one community and the negative to another...

it's in the first paragraph of the userinfo. :(

You can also post positive remarks about commissioners. (We encourage positive feedback!)

I must admit, I find my self less inclined to commission someone whose been pimped on a community for bad commissioners. I know it's allowed, but it sits in the wrong place in my head. If I wanted to have a look whose done well I'd go to Anjels comm.

I personally don't mind seeing both positive and negative feedback here. I watch [livejournal.com profile] artistrecommend as well, so I try to keep on top of who to watch out for and such.

It's also good help on watching out for how to be a good person to commission, myself, by seeing the flaws others do towards people commissioning. So I don't mind seeing good outcomes too. :D

All I wanted to do was suggest it to you. But don't mind the drama. it was no fault of your own. Postive recommendations are welcome here as well.

I apologize if it looked like I was trying to stir up drama unrelated to your post. I have noted what you said about Watergazer though, and when/if I'm next in the commission market, I'll definitely keep her in mind.

By all means, keep making recommendations here and anywhere else relevant, they are appreciated. :)

A great many thanks Tayit. When I was working on your badge I admit it was one of the harder ones but I'm glad in the end it worked out and it is finished now...but for some reason I can't get onto FA (still working out the problem...is it FA that's been down for several days or my computer-don't know.)

Anyway, I also didn't know there was another community for positive recommendations. I'm really disappointed that the first time anybody tries to post something about my work and be really nice about it for my sake, it backfires into a terrible squabble and leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth, be it my name associated therein or not, and I find it incredibly depressing how I was emotionally lifted up one moment by reading the post and then thrown back down by all the drama, and then read from "find me alone" how they aren't likely to commission artists mentioned on artist beware even if they are mentioned as good. What? So you're saying this post has even hurt my chances with some people now? All because one of my commissioners went above and beyond and decided to be so kind to me as to give me a free plug?

This is incredibly upsetting, but thanks, Tayit, for trying...

Findmealone is one person. Filthy_animal said that they don't mind seeing recommendations on artist_beware, and I'm the same way, as are many others. It's good publicity no matter where it's posted.

I really don't think that this post has hurt your chances. People will remember your name for the fact that someone was happy with your work.

...I've already apologized for derailing the post, I'm not entirely sure what else you want from me. o_O
