Just as a heads up, since members here were disapproving of it. e621.net is back and uploading art without permission just like before, only this time they made a couple changes. If you email them your full address and phone number they'll remove your work and put you on a DNP list (though the faq says it could take a while and if you write angry emails they will ignore you and leave it up), and they started offering wiki pages to post your commission info on.

I'm glad that site is back up. Even if so many people bitched about it in the first place, I found a TON of good artists thanks to that site. Hope nobody takes it down now that they've outlined a decent DNP notification system.

I'm aware I'm in the minority in this community. Too bad. I do commission stuff every once in a while and I used e621 to find some references, so blah. Begin the flaming or something.

It wasn't taken down because of the artists bitching by the way, it was taken down because their host was notified that there was adult material on the site which was against their TOS.

Everyone simply wanted the site to obey copyright law and respect the artist rights though. Not every artist finds having their stuff posted next to cubart fine even if it does bring in the occasional commission. Defending our rights isn't bitching and to be honest if you feel that artist's rights are less important than what you want? You really need to get your priorities in order.

Also they did break their hosts ToS. Ergo, it was the owners own damn fault for thinking he was above the law and above a legal contract that he had agreed to.

IAWTC. Even though Arcturus is a dramawhoring cunt, e621 is a great way to find art and artists. If people don't like it, then they either shouldn't be posting stuff on the internet for people to see, or should have contact and gallery info on all of their publicly-viewable images. Simple as that.

I, personally, wouldn't care if my art were to end up being posted there. Hell, I'd be amazed people had found my art and liked it enough to post it somewhere. But I honestly don't see how they can go about saying 'we'll do this without your permission, and if you want us to stop you have to give us your personal address and phone number! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA'

From what I've seen, he justifies it with "Well, that's pretty much what you'd need for a DMCA so that's what we're doing". Personally, I think it's not at all since DMCAs seem like something that goes to companies and not people known for being immature and disrespectful, but I have no experience with DMCAs.

Considering what happened last time, people reposting personal information of artists who objected to having their work illegally redistributed and making jokes about going to rape them, I would advise against sending these people your personal information.

At most you should send them a polite note telling them to remove your work, but you could just use the form letter from the previous topical post and send it directly to their host, which is the same as before.

Eh? That is nothing to joke about... I know because I had someone break into my home before in the middle of the night and beat the hell out of me, as they were trying to rape me...The only thing that saved me was the fact he jammed his gun hitting me over the head with it so many times.. So a statement like that, even if it is a joke, is rather disturbing.
I would think legal action could be taken.. Terroristic threatening.. at the very least due to the dark nature of the joke...

The fact that they make it difficult when an artists asks ti to be removed is ridiculous..... but its sort of imposable to stop all the sites like this.

What really irked me was the posting of a particular piece where as the one on the artists site had a watermark....

Oh no! God forbid artists get free promotion! That's terrible! I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm flattered when people like my art enough to repost it and want to share it with others. :( From what I've seen, most if not all of the pics I've seen there credit the original artist and link back to their gallery. I think it's a great way to get commissions and stuff, personally. :)

It's fine if the artists are cool with it, but some of them aren't, and I think those that aren't should at least be asked before their stuff is reposted. Also, the site is mostly a furry porn site, some artists may be uncomfortable having their work displayed there.

Whether or not you personally agree with their reasons for doing so, any artist who wants their work taken down from a site like that is well within their rights. Hassling them and trying to intimidate them into not exercizing these rights is just plain not right in my books.

And if anybody ever found my art and decided they liked it, I wouldn't care where it was being posted either. Again, that doesn't mean everybody else has to be okay with it too.

If you’re really offended by having your work posted to such a website, please email us with a polite request to have your posts taken down. Rude screaming, rants, and baseless legal threats will be happily ignored.

It doesn't seem to say anything about giving out personal information, but I might have missed it? Or they took it down?

Reading through the FAQ, the webmaster doesn't sound professional at all. Or likable.
