[identity profile] fierycatthing.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] artists_beware
It's been said multiple times before, but I'd like to remind everyone...

This community is about warning of bad commissioners, whether they be the customer or the person taking the money. And yes, sometimes we have to hear both sides of the story. Both sides have every right to share their side of the story. It's up to you to judge how you wish upon hearing them, but getting up in arms about it isn't necessary. Flame-baiting is extremely not necessary. Nor are cat macros. If you need your fix of cat macros, I suggest [livejournal.com profile] cat_macros to fill your kitty void. Here is not the place.

I'd like to think there is some level of professionalism to be had (or needs to be had) in this community, since we're often talking about something related to the exchange of money for goods.

We do have the rules posted in a very easy to read format in the community info, and I feel some of you haven't read them yet. So I'd like to ask that everyone please go and review them now.

And as always, we moderators cannot always keep up with all the comments at all times. Especially for posts that generate a lot in a short amount of time, or outdated posts that get new comments. Please email us if you see any of the rules being broken so we can handle it as necessary. We really appreciate the help!

Now how 'bout we get back on track, eh? :3

Sorry, I didn't post my cat macro to flame-bait, I did it as comic relief more than anything. If that's a rule from now on, you may want to add it to the rules since they don't currently say anything about cat macros either way.

I think it depends, sometimes people do use cat macros to flame-bait but sometimes they are used to break the tension or to express when someone thinks a situation/entry is ridiculous in and of itself. But your mileage may vary.

Generally speaking, once a cat macro sub-thread take off, they truncate into a staggered thread, so it wouldn't load the pictures unless someone willingly clicked the thread link. Again, YMMV.

As far as I've experienced being a mod myself, unless you explicitly state what you don't want, you can't expect people to be mindreaders and know what you mean.

Honestly, I think that post should be locked/removed. The artist proved the badge was done, the artist says it was mailed.. and at this point, I feel that the buyer and his mate are trying to cause drama for the artist, and what they don't realize is, they are causing it for themselves as well, which I do not feel is right and I do not think Artist_Beware should be for causing drama. What it is for, is to warn people about bad buyers and sellers. People who steal money and are never heard from again, people who harass and threaten.

The artist was a week and a half late due to illness. Honestly, come back when the artist is 4 years behind, then I'll feel bad. But right now, I feel it's just a way to start some drama. Although yes, I will agree that there is blame on BOTH sides there.

if one is removed for drama purposes, both should be removed. it is not fair for the artist to have her own post to speak her side of the story, and then not allow the commissioner to have his own post to speak his side. while i realize Diggla showed up in the comments to Zim's post to try and explain himself, she also showed up in the comments to his post, so they're even on that score.

personally, i think the situation is so far gone that both posts should stay up (but perhaps with replies frozen) as a testament to how badly both of them behaved during it all. neither party is without blame.

I am sorry, I must have missed where Zim had posted a story as well. I apologize for not seeing that sooner. I've spent the last week dealing with a pet in the critical care ER, so this is my first day fully back online checking stuff.

Anyway, really then, if they both posted, I think both should just be removed. It really is nothing but a drama fest and leaving them up makes it seem like the mods tolerate this kind of childish, finger pointing behavior. Removing them with a warning of stay in line on this community or else, would be the best idea, in my opinion. But if they feel it's needed to leave it, they can. It is their call.

It's these little things that turn so quickly into big things that make this such a sad, sick thing to watch. and I hate watching other people get involved in something silly like this. Zim could have had better communication with the buyer and the buyer could have been a little more calm about the issue.

I just checked it out.. and I still stand by my thought that they should be removed due to all of the childish behavior in them.

And yes, my kitty is doing better. Only about 65-70%, but getting there. :)

OH! Poor kitty. That's a good percentage to be at when you've been in critical care for awhile though.

And hey, the biology of the body of mammals is incredible. It can fix so much. I hope your kitty is able to come home soon. I'm sure s/he is missing your lovings. ;D

Edit: I can't spell. :P

I, like Sunhawk posted those for fun and 0-profit. Everyone seemed to be saying the same thing in ten paragraphs or more, those images where the long-and-short of it to me, the parties involved seemed more charged about eachothers words than kittens.

But yes, if macro-usage is to be frowned on ('illegal'), having that in the rules could help if you're to be considering it a sub-type of "trolling" (that's my guess).

Everything Sunhawk said is basically what I would say. From the truncated threads in LJ (and in the case of 'anger-driven' threads like we've just witnessed, things get put into sub threads right bloody -quick-. LJ was a genius with their coding in that regard), to the issues of mind-readers and Mod-ship.

Its a mixed bag of dollar store candy, situations (or mileage) may (can) vary.
