WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/otterman89/
WHAT: NSFW Digital Art
WHEN: Order received Feb. 9th, 2013. Product finished March 4. Payment received April 13th.
EXPLAINATION AND PROOF: On Feb. 9th, 2013, I was contacted by Otterman89 via note asking if I would do a NSFW picture of him and a character having sex. I responded, telling him I was not open for requests, but if he was asking about a commission, I might consider taking it. At this time I also explained that it may take me longer than normal (a couple weeks) to finish the piece, as my tablet was not working at the time, and giving him a link to my adult art account for viewing what I had done that was NSFW. We went back and forth, narrowing out details and such, as seen here: http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n579/MuffinsWeasley/ptterman1_zps2909a3cd.png
After details were decided on, he ended up asking to see WIPs along the way. I sent the sketch and received an okay, after which I did not receive any response on the next WIPs sent. (WIPs messages: http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n579/MuffinsWeasley/ptterman2_zps2719cf7e.png)
The final drawing was finished on March 4 and posted to my alternate account. He read my initial note (as FurAffinity's system tells you if a note's been opened) and left a shout on his page before contacting him again. I began to become paranoid that he was just going to save it to his computer and post it on his account without paying. (He may or may not have done just that at first, I don't remember and it's taken down now.) (proof: http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n579/MuffinsWeasley/ptterman3_zpsc4e55fe8.png) I sent more notes and left more comments until I finally received a response on April 10th (over a month after completion) with a sob story about how life was hard for him (tw: brief mention of suicidal thoughts). I was peeved about not getting a response for so long, and for him trying to make me feel bad for him, especially since I'd had my own stress but still held up my end of the bargain. I told him so and that I was peeved at being ignored, and he told me that he wasn't ignoring me (despite ignoring multiple notes/comments) and he'd have the payment on Friday. (Conversation: http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n579/MuffinsWeasley/ptterman4_zpsbd965bc4.png)
He asked me an unrelated question on Saturday (the day after I was supposed to be paid) and I had to remind him to pay me as well as give out my paypal for a third time: http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n579/MuffinsWeasley/ptterman5_zps567de891.png
Overall, it took over a month to receive payment for work already completed. I would not recommend him as a commissionee, and caution working with him unless you're willing to fight just to get paid.

Date: 2014-03-25 04:50 pm (UTC)Oh also he never mentioned he wanted a NSFW picture until something he said made me suspicious and I said, "you know I don't do X rated art, right?" I don't know when he was planning on telling me he wanted a NSFW picture D: He also kept pushing and pushing for slightly less NSFW but still fetish (which I don't do), even after I told him I don't do that type of art. I mean, if you take a quick glance at my gallery you'll see all my art is at most PG rated. Why just assume an artist will do NSFW/fetish if there isn't a single example of it in their gallery?

Date: 2014-03-25 05:48 pm (UTC)Eventually I considered doing a YCH type thing with the same gryphon character, and he came back offering to bid on it. Great! Only instantly he started flooding my inbox begging me to let him commission me for... the exact same thing for a cheaper price if he lost the auction. Which, you know, kind of defeats the purpose of an auction. I turned him down, which he wasn't happy about.
Things got a bit crazy on my end for a while after that, my art laptop was fried at the time so I ended up decided against the auction because I wouldn't have had a way to finish the artwork for whoever won, and I needed to take a hiatus because of life changes and a situation involving an ex stalking me and harassment from his buddies. Otterman started sending me more guilt-trippy notes begging me for this art and offering ridiculous amounts of money to try and change my mind (ignoring the fact that 1: I didn't have any way to do the art because my machine was busted and 2: I'd already told him a dozen times why I comfortable doing it.) Even when I posted a hiatus journal saying I wasn't going to be active for a while because of the stalking and harassment and needed to step away because I felt unsafe, he immediately noted me begging me to do his commission for him (ignoring the countless times I said no), because he needed it so badly and it was apparently stressing him out so much thinking that he would never get the chance to get it.
He started to beg me to let him commission another artist for the piece, and offered to pay ME $300 to let him go to somebody else. I turned him down again, and he went back to guilt-tripping.
After I saw Mistresswolf's post about her dealings with him, and realized that he was offering me this much money at the same time that he was telling Mistress and other artists that he wasn't able to pay them what he owed them, I finally called him out on it and he freaked out, because he apparently needed art of him with my character sooooo badly, he couldn't live without it, and so on...
I know so many people he's done this exact same thing to and no matter how many times people straight-up tell him it's not okay, he turns around and does it again to countless other people. He has major issues and I really, really don't suggest that anybody work with him. If he messages you, and starts begging and guilt-tripping and ":( :( :("-ing all over the place when you turn him down? Don't do what I did and assume that he'll go away on his own-- Block him and get the hell out of there.

Date: 2014-03-25 09:07 pm (UTC)I didn't even know he had an alt account, ugh. :/ I'm so sorry you had to put up with that. You'd think he'd at least get the hint after being told to leave you alone and then getting blocked.

The fact you have to fight him to get paid is bad enough, but he acts like he's paying for your friendship as well.
