I moderate the Equine Exchange community here on livejournal, and in the community's bio is a full list of rules about what it means to join a round, and what the expectations are of people who participate. This month I posted the sign-up sheet as usual, and had buckywhitetail sign up

Beware, any other art exchange communities that he signs up to, or if he ever asks you to participate in an art trade with him. I actually drew FREE art for him as well about a year ago of his deer fursona because he said he never wins art contests, and if he does, he never receives his art, so I made him a piece and all he did was complain that I drew it in his style, and not my own, and how terrible the art was, and how he expected me to redraw it.

Oh, furries.

Just a quick skim of this guys journal makes it quite clear that he didn't write anything after his deleted posts. I mean it's obvious without looking at his journal, the evidence is there, he goes from swearing, poor spelling and not punctuating his sentences to eloquent, calm and able to coherently spout a full knowledge of LJ's ToC. Before I saw the deleted posts I thought the guy might have joined just to cause drama so he -could- show off how much he knew about LJ law but it's evident now that he either grows a brain when he gets angry or it's someone else. :P

I firmly believe that it was bastnfalker writing the replies and pretending to be bucky. The tenses are way off, he's trying too hard to say "me" in it, and he signs it as bucky, as if that will make it believable

Wow, that's sort of the opposite of "Taking one's toys and going home" in the sense of "hanging around and never leaving despite the continuous tantrum" @_@

I think it was a mistake to bring up the contract in any legal sense because obviously this was more about a social contract in terms of manners, more than something strictly legal-minded.

Either way, someone just wanted to have a cry about the "elitist equines" LOL What a concept...

Yeah, I used the word legal offhandedly without any real seriousness because he used it, which I shouldn't have done because of what it infers, lol and then he (or his mate pretending to be him) just went way overboard with it.

The drama ended because I banned him and then disabled anon posting, or I'm sure it'd still be going

Yeah it's best to not give people an opening to legal babble unless you've got a good reason, because it doesn't really have the same impact as the social "treat others as you'd like to be treated" mentality you are encouraging with the whole black-list idea. The idea of you making "threats" on a public forum constituting harassment is amusing, though.

Sounds like a good call, whether it's really him or someone pretending to be him, etc.

Why don't people read? Or rather, why be surprised when not holding up your end of the bargain in a clearly-stated community setting leads to negative consequences? Oh people and their special snowflake mentality...

*nods* I'll definitely keep from using that terminology in the future, although I HOPE that I won't ever have a situation like this one crop up again.

What I really don't get is that he sent a billion emails to my co-moderator telling her that the art was already done before he said he wanted out of the community, which, if that was TRUE, meant all he had to do was post the art and never sign up for another round again. It also shows how dumb he was for not knowing all he had to do was post the art. But he obviously didn't understand the rules to begin with.

If it's not true, which I'm more inclined to believe, that also shows his lack of integrity. *shrugs*

The bottom line is people need to read up on what they're getting involved with before they sign up for something, and then not be bi-polar

Eh, sadly there will always be people who join comms without reading any of the rules; I know myself from the number of people who join my fanfic groups and don't follow the big obvious rules like "format your stories" or "don't post unbeta'ed garbage" etc ;)

It does sound like a cop-out to me, especially since this art wasn't mentioned at all originally when he asked to leave the group. So either he's lying or he's so beyond incompetent, to not figure out how to do things when there are so many ways to figure it out.

Let people froth themselves; you have rules, they are clearly stated, you made sure he was aware of the consequences of ignoring them, end of story.

Thanks for the warning. I had a bad experience with someone in an exchange community a while back, but I didn't think to post it. He thankfully has deleted his LJ and disappeared from the internet, but he tried to make a huge deal of the fact he had to post his art for his chosen one on the community, which is kind of the point. I kind of wish I had shared it, but I suppose the point is moot since most people know he is batshit crazy and he has since deleted his journal.

I will be wary of this guy though.

Hmm, I'm not in any exchange communities, but I did a quick commission for him once. He paid quickly and was extremely grateful for the drawing I did for him (he thanked me profusely and faved it several times over a month so it would appear first on his FA favs list)
