WHO: Crystal-for-ever

WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/crystal-for-ever/

WHAT: Wing It Commission -Two Character Adult Piece-

WHEN: Commissioned and Paid May 10th 2013. Final contact April 18th 2014, Unresolved.

PROOF: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/klb764ym9hk0299/Artists%20Beware%20Log.png

EXPLAIN: Note Logs explain it all, but, commissioned her, waited over a year for the piece, communication was shoddy at best, wouldn't refund, gives no ETA, defends the wait by saying she's waited 2 years for art before. From what little I can see before she deletes the comments, this isn't new for her.

Current Mood:Frustrated

EDIT: Sep. 29th 2014 Update: Was talking with the artist, still won't refund but is offering to make the wait up to me by doing the piece she was paid to do. Oh, and a sketch. I've included the full conversation below. The TLDR is she asked me to take this post down and offered to finish the piece she never started... after I give her the info again, I told her I'm not interested in trying to get the art out of her anymore, after over a year, I just want my refund. Excuses follow, she really wants to settle the dispute art wise and offered to do a little extra in a sketch as her way of fixing this.

EDIT: Sep. 29th 2014 Update: I listened to what she had to say, I told her I want my refund. Full log right there. It's similar to talking to a brick wall. I don't think this will get resolved.

EDIT: Sep. 29th 2014 Update: Issue resolved. She has issued my full refund.

Disappointed to hear that, because she's got some nice art. Other than that, the "NO refunds" clause is a sure sign of a big red flag.

Beware duly noted.

Not to mention that she wont post a queue list anywhere so people can see how many she has left to do or what her progress is on them, let alone keep track of them herself since she keeps losing her work to computer failure or whatever her latest excuse happens to be. Personally I'd like to see a queue list before I started throwing money at an artist for commissions but maybe that's just me. And many of her customers have been waiting well over 8 months to a year like the op here but she keeps hiding comments so no one else can see them. I've been waiting for her to pop up in here though. Surprised it's taken so long to be honest...

And jeez, she still owes art on that contest she held back in 2011 iirc. There's nothing on any of her galleries for it at least and she's apparently deleted the journal entry announcing the winner so I can't remember who she owes for that...

This reminds me of this whole Chevi thing. She (Chevi) also has a gigantic queue of 200+ commissions, plus some trades, free prizes, etc. she didn't seem get around to.

On-topic with the crystal-for-ever thing: I remember working with her and got a commission from her way back in either 2008-09 (can't remember) when I had an old account. Fortunately for me, I had absolutely zero problem with her. I'm glad I didn't work with her anymore since then.

You know, it'd be nice is FA made a blanket rule that you must display a link to an up to date queue/or have an up to date queue in your profile to be allowed to offer commissions through the site.

So if you upload any price lists, or journals about commissions, etc., on FA you must also have a public queue.

I doubt many of these artists with massive backlogs would get much business if people could see just how much they still owed.

I doubt that would be enforceable, if it was even desirable.
But I think it would just make the customers easy targets for harassment if someone has beef with the artist.

I'm honestly curious how people could use that to harass someone. Like saying the queue is out of date? Or claiming they bought something and aren't on the queue?

I know it's wishful thinking, FA can't even fix serious issues, let alone anything in terms of improved experience,

By harassing the customers when they have beef with the artist. Like sending them abusive messages or lying about the artist. I keep my customer information private until after our business is complete, I do not want to risk third parties meddling with my business.

One time I had one bidder contact the other bidder on an auction site to dissuade him from continuing to bid.

I *have* seen them enforce a public queue for users who had been listed on here for owing a lot of commissions, less they be suspended. Though that was back when they still worked with AB

Yep, with Falvie, even though she still doesn't. :|

It would just be nice if it was a site wide rule. You want to sell art on FA, you have to let people know how long your backlog is.

Even if you listed:

• Commissioner 1 sketch
• Commissioner 2 full colour
• Commissioner 3 head shot
• Commissioner 4 sketch

To avoid using unser names is you wanted to be discreet.

Just something so anyone potentially buying from you knows what theya re getting into.

I think that'd be a fair rule.

She actually does have one, it's just on her falvie-commissions profile. How up to date it is, I can't say for sure.

On-topic, I agree. I'm not really sure how they'd be able to enforce such a thing, though it would definitely help in avoiding artists like this one.

Since I can't edit comments because someone replied to it, this is what got to me regarding the "no refunds" thing:

-No Refunds, don't have the funds for them so please don't ask me.

I'll be hazarding a guess she's probably using these funds to buy commissions from other folks, but I could be wrong though.

Thankfully she can't actually enforce that!

Yeah, that's not even remotely legal.

I really hope not cause that would just be plain unprofessional and just irresponsible.
