WHO: Toichi on Furaffinity.

WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/toichi/

WHAT: Digital art.

WHEN: September 4th, they commissioned me as I was holding special Feral dragon commissions.
http://gyazo.com/3db79b314364aa883a3ff76a93a09dc6

None of my other customers have problems with these prices, but he gladly paid etc.
I finished it on September 11th and showed it to him.
Finished (NSFW): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14509992/
SFW: http://gyazo.com/88d0c0fdfca9c8d321d9d8dd928396d1
There are two versions, one sfw and one nsfw.

PROOF: That same day this happened:
http://gyazo.com/f410cb7be992875659a83a1e25754225 (Sorry for the mess in the note, but I'm sure you get the point)
As you can see I was trying to be as patient as possible with this guy, and in the end, he was just expecting free art.

NOW a month later, he's stiring up trouble again.
http://gyazo.com/09369226ef99511a73465843d73c90d7
http://gyazo.com/03ddffadbce2a4008931e4a2d18e420b
And I only find out he's tampered with the original art, which is against my TOS.
http://gyazo.com/1e5de2e4b4811dc0baef3a7c70e1f653 (The bits and the toe)
He says he feels horrible about the conflict, then goes on saying that my art is crap.
He was back and forth about this as you can see in the note, saying he loved it etc, then putting my stuff down.

EXPLAIN: I tried my best to accommodate him as you can see in this note: http://gyazo.com/f410cb7be992875659a83a1e25754225, I fixed things, and i gave him the amount he wanted in a refund.
Many people I've talked too have said my art is par with everything else I've done, and I really love this piece.

EDIT:
He is now posting about me on his Twitter: (He posted it after he emailed me.)
http://gyazo.com/f7b6701bf80afa070ab9297a63ea037a
And contacting me through Email.
http://gyazo.com/721f4d669081d991d3e83a1298147519

I have contacted neer himself about it, and his original journal was removed,
Neer posted this to me:
http://gyazo.com/2c7ab3d90475c59463aaeea40c65ca82

Right after he got the journal taking down. Toichi posted another, saying I was harassing him now. (I didn't get a chance to screen shot it as he removed it right after.)
The whole time, I calmly tried to reply to his notes, but then after I blocked him as I didn't want to deal with the stress, only to see that he had emailed me and was pestering me on there.

Please watch out for this guy, he's very confusing and I don't want anyone else to deal with this.

Holy crap, his responses were outright rude. He didn't need to say things like it was a "crap piece of art" and "barely acceptable." Then to go as far as editing it... beware well warranted.

Also glad Dragoneer sided with you on this.

Did you give them WIPs of the work?

From: [identity profile] adzuki.livejournal.com
That sounds accusatory and I didnt mean it to. It would just add a bit more to the story.

From: [identity profile] adzuki.livejournal.com
Ah i didnt catch that.
That's backwards. If there was something they didnt like they should have pointed it out along the process and not with the finished piece. Bullying you into a partial refund sounds like buyer's remorse to me. Will be keeping an eye out for this one.

Wow he seems very rude and almost seems liek he was going through drastic levels to get a refund/make you look bad :c. Beware taken!

I know adzuki asked this but I am curious too. Did you show them WIPs? If not does your TOS say anything about edits/WIPS?

Wow...it looks a little bit like buyers remorse to me.
I'm appalled that he went as far as to publicly call your art "crap" and that you put him through "hell". I think you did everything you could have done for him. I'm sorry you had to go through such a bad situation...

Don't let one bad egg get you down! You are really talented and you shouldn't let this bad situation keep you from doing what you love. Also, there are always going to be bad clients no matter what field you work in. You handled it very professionally and remained calm through the whole thing!

My goodness, I am sorry you had to deal with that. I had similar a few years back. They pretty much wanted a refund because they realised they needed money for something else.

I got that out of them after much moaning about poor art quality ect. They told me everything from I was a terrible person, to a down right shitty artist XD

Don't let it get you down, its terrible when it happens but it is obvious you did your best to please them. In the end, they are just one bad commissioner, and unfortunately they pop up from time to time :)

I'm really sorry to hear this- as someone who has experienced similar, I'm echoing the others. One bad egg is crappy, but you can throw it out. <3

If this artist yaroul willingly edited artwork from another artist without their permission, I'd say this counts as a beware against them too. That's some seriously shady business practices if the original artist isn't notified first.

Wow. This commissioner... It's such a little thing, but I can't help but note how they talk down about their reference art as well when they arrange the commission with you. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they have a history of not mentioning issues early on in a commission and then complaining after the fact.

What a loser

You handled this much more nicely than I would have, good on you! I am glad to hear FA staff backed you up. I have been on both sides of acommission and sometimes it doesn't turn out perfect, but you are paying for the artist's time, not for your own happiness. You fulfilled + beyond your half of that contract, so you can rest easy with a clear conscience. I will certainly beware this user. Thanks for sharing!

Definitely buyers remorse. What a bad attitude he has about the whole thing too. Quite the yo-yoing satisfaction level from him. Thanks for the beware. I am not much for drawing feral things, but I will avoid him if he comes my way.

yikes, i can't believe how quickly his tone changed after the piece was finished. definitely worth the beware- sorry you had to deal with this. i think you handled it very well and i'm glad dragoneer backed you up on this!

that's all on him if he approved it. especially after MULTIPLE WIPS THAT HE APPROVED. it sounds a lot like the sort of shitty behavior I'd see from folk wanting to squeeze apology art out of artists. "Wow you fucked up my commission so bad - how about a makeup? No? I'M GOING TO TELL EVERYONE YOU SUCK"

I'm going to be the bad guy and say that the toes should have been fixed, in my opinion - there are indeed three toes on one hind leg, four on the other; three fingers on one hand, four on the other; and the wing fingers don't match either, but could be chalked up to one wing edging off the picture.

However, he didn't even mention that until after he'd already said that he liked the picture and approved it, so I think he was looking for reasons to get a refund. I'm glad you handled it so well and didn't give in to his demand of a full refund. You did the work and deserve pay. Other than the oversight of the toes, I think this work is up to snuff with the rest of what's in your gallery, so I don't know what he was expecting. Well deserved beware.

Is it possible that he purposefully ignore the issue until the very end, then ask for a refund, in order to get free art?

I have a gut feeling that might be his true motivation. :/ Consider his public harassment towards the artist.

That seems a possibility. Reminds me of someone who goes out to eat and spends the whole time looking really hard for reasons not to tip their server.

This is what I thought as well *has had it happen to her before*. Mine was missing fingers (I did 4 on each hand instead of 5 like their ref), but they never notified me during WIP and wanted a 100% refund. They got 0 as I fixed the image because luckily it was a simple lineart and color easy to fix.

They still demanded a refund, but eventually got banned from the site it was on....long time ago XD...1999 ugh.

Least that was better then the person that ran off with 20 linearts without paying (linearts then payment) because i was too naive to watermark them - to get them colored by someone else :/. 2001 - still a bad time for artist on the net.

I agree that they could be fixed, but the commissioner never pointed them out until after edits were already made and they had requested a refund (per the note screencap in the OP). At that point, it's too late to do the edits because they're demanding a refund. :/

Thanks for the beware I would of just told him no in the end , commission is completed , you can fix but you don't get a refund after it's done, that was out of order.

Oh my god! Wow, I cannot believe how he treated you, and insulted your art. I am so sorry, that behavior is not acceptable, I am surprised you decided to refund him, but I guess it was to just get him out of your hair.

You are NEVER obligated to refund someone after all that. He was lucky he got anything, I also feel that its weird how he decided he disliked it after he said that he liked it, even with numerous updates. Just.. wow... one of the worst I have seen in a while.

Beware completely and totally warranted.

Wow

That public shaming and constant attempts at dragging your name through the mud, AFTER you partially refunded him and he got to keep the art... not okay.

Preemptively blocking this guy. Thanks for the heads up. No one should have to go through and deal with this kind of behavior, and I'm sorry you had this experience!

So he went from "I love it."
To "I hate to ask, could you change this?"
"Change that too."
"This looks half-assed, change it."
To "Gimme a refund."

Yikes.

"I'm almost always looking for someone to do some commission work for me.I'm a fan of a lot of artists in the community."

Ahaha.. Gosh I hope those artists check here first.
