This is about my experience with Aoifhe / LiIIlian / creux / cuffedkitty.

On the 24th May 2014, I ordered a custom lioness design from tsunkitty (now Aoifhe). I paid $15 for it.

Proof of payment

I had gotten art from her before (now deleted), so I trusted I would get my money's worth.

After 3 weeks of waiting, I didn't want the design anymore. I asked her if I could change what I wanted to a chibi, which she was selling for $10, meaning she got an extra $5 out of it. She was very happy to accept.

After 14 more weeks of waiting, which she spent taking on new commissions and doing personal art (I have no proof of this sadly), I asked her if she had forgotten it. She had completely forgotten about it, and stated that she would not be working anytime soon.

I starting feeling very doubtful at this point. After 4 months of waiting, and her having actually forgotten about it, I started getting impatient.
Very shortly after that, she deactivated for a few days. I was planning on trying to get my money back at this point. I decided to give her a week, and she reactivated 3 days later. So I noted her about my commission, and her replies seemed very passive aggressive.

I left it alone after that. I was on her to-do list and thought I'd get it at some point.
Her Aoifhe account was suspended, so the only where I could contact her was from her other account LiIIian. Just today (2nd Nov 2014), however, she blocked me over a completely irrelevant subject. She is now offering a refund only in a different currency (deviantART points).

Overall she was an absolute nightmare to deal with. She spent most of her time taking on more commissions, making YCHs, and even doing personal art instead of doing her job.
She's very hot and cold when it comes to commissions. Clearly I got the short end of the stick. I would not commission anything from this artist.

Edit: Resolved. I have received my full refund.

I'm really sorry you had to go through that and get blocked and refunded with only DA points. Since there was an advice post about this recently.

Wow, she cannot refund in DA points if people pay in currency. She can put it in her TOS all she likes but she cannot uphold that in anyways.

Absolutely avoid this artist just on that alone, let alone the bad attitude.

oh wow, i didn't know about all these other accounts. i've been following her on creux and she always seemed nice, but man everything she posts on that DA is so abrasive and the attitude in those notes is pretty awful. how disappointing. :/ -watch.

That's both petty and vindictive and just opens up the customer to verbal abuse from people who have no idea what is happening, starting from the fact that DA Points can't be converted to money :I

ughh reading her journals about TOS' and refunding is so painful. if she really thinks she can just give you DA points instead of the actual money you paid her, she's really naive. :\

hopefully you can do a charge back with paypal, since it's obvious she refuses to pay you back.

I'd also like to add that she recently spent $50 on Waitress's base despite saying, and I quote, "you know why i don't do any of that frivolous bs? because i've got fucking necessities to pay for.".
I don't think a $50 base is a necessity.
If she can afford to spare $50 on a base, she can afford to give me back my $15

I feel it's important to make this point; artists will draw personal art, even when they have commissions. A lot of artists always have commissions, so that means they would never be able to draw personal art if they chose not to do personal work while they have paid work pending, which is a great way to get art block. Drawing for oneself is fun, doing commissions is work and while that too can be a lot of fun, it's not like drawing personal work; there's a lot more freedom to play and experiment and just mess about, which is inspiring and leads to new insights. But not having to worry about the end result (and meeting a customer expectation) is essential for that to work. Sucking the fun out of making art is a guaranteed way to make an artist burn out and then nobody gets art.

That said, most artists can plan their commission and personal work thus that they can deliver on their paid work within a reasonable timeframe, which 17+ weeks for a chibi is not. I feel like you should have taken the refund at time, which she seemed to be offering.

I wouldn't ask for art anymore at all, but pursue a refund instead.

I'm aware that artists do personal art between commissions, I do the same myself. But she had multiple things on her to-do list, yet she'd draw a vast amount of personal art. It's not the fact that she was doing it that irritated me, it's the sheer amount that she did.

I have no way to contact her anyhow, she's blocked me from all accounts.

The refund was in dA points, which is useless to me. She's now apparently claiming that she's going to do my commission, but I really don't want to have some lazily drawn chibi that's only done out of spite. But again, I can't contact her.

she owed me her side of an art trade since July (i was foolish and did my side first, even though she asked me for the trade - i've changed my art trade terms since this happened). i eventually let her off the hook for it since the art was stored and she'd scrapped the character it depicted, and i hoped she'd use the freed-up space to take care of her paying customers.

unfortunately, two people still sit on her refund list and she's off buying $50 base packs, even though she claims she can't refund with USD because she needs the money to eat. and people continue to pat her back and defend her because she's added a no-refund clause to her ToS. she also claims that she bought the base because it will help her make money, even though she has her own base pack - apparently it's good enough to sell, but not good enough for her to use herself.

she's a good artist, but her professional behavior is really lacking, to be honest. she doesn't seem to know how to handle her responsibilities without acting like everyone is attacking her because her behavior has consequences.

she does still have several commissions, as well as the people on her refund list. she does this quite a bit (although this time it seems she just wiped everything instead of deactivating, which is her usual solution, as well as disabling her FA), she'll probably be back in a couple of days or so.

she also has the account Catslaps, to add to her account list. just in case she resurfaces over there and someone needs to contact her.
