fur / da name: Ebon-wolf

I got a note on da from a girl asking if I could make her a set of paws and a tail before hellowen, I said I would try my best that me and my boyfriend where in the middle of moving and it was a hard time for me to be doing it.

we needed the money so I aggreed.

i had her send me hand tracings so that I could make them fit her hands. she sent the first set - which she did wrong and she had to re send them. still they were not right but I tryed to work around them.

I put off stuff I needed to do with moving, to make sure they got done and that she would have them on time. After I was done she didnt want to pay me but for half of what we agreed on till it got there ( I didnt want to do it but again we needed the money for food. so I agreed)  I rush delivered them to her so that she would get them in time (at no extra cost to her)

she got them and told me that the gloves didnt fit, I told her I could fix them if she sent them back - she didnt want too. instead she made me wait a week for payment and took money off of it, and still wont send me the gloves back.

she sent me alot of mean messages to my phone about how I needed to change the way I do things cause it didnt work for her.

working with her is not worth the stress.

Ugh... this situation seems like it was all around bad. First you had to rush it and that was a problem, and you needed the money so you still took it despite the fact that rushing stuff like fursuit items never seems to work out.

I'm sorry you lost this product and money on it, but I think this stands out as another good reason to not take fursuiting commissions when you are hard on cash and/or in a rush. It always seems to go bad.

OP still didn't deserve to have the client be a cuntrag like that tho.

No.... But I think there are better ways to put the fact the client was pushy and didn't adhere to the terms of their agreement than "cuntrag". I've just be apart of this community for a few years now and there are two sides to every story, and out of habit I can see the other side.
Its always good to learn from the mistakes of others and your own and realize what you did wrong in them and try not to make them again, not just make a post on AB about how you shouldn't work with so and so because of them.

...no. i think cuntrag sums it up pretty well, according to this post.

and the post still belongs here. if the client really was this rude, i'd want to know about it, as an artist.

I think you're missing the point just a touch.

While there's no doubt that the customer wasn't exactly the greatest person to work with, anjel_kitty makes a very good point that the artist also made a few mistakes. Taking a commission in desperate times, sadly, never seems to work out as well as people hope. Especially when it comes to fursuit stuff. Had she taken the commission during a less stressful, desperate time, then she could have made sure to get the correct tracings from the customer, as opposed to doing what she did here and simply making the paws anyway. I think that was a big mistake on her part, since simply trying to "make it work" is asking for trouble.

There's no doubt that the customer was obviously rude about the situation, but I think both parties are guilty in this situation. She paid the artist to do a job. She didn't give the artist what she needed (customer's fault). The artist, in an effort to get the job done, just pushed on through and botched the paws because of it (artist's fault). I think the customer has every right to withhold some payment because of that.

Like anjel_kitty said, this is a good learning experience for the artist. She needs to take it as such, and if she does feel that she needs to report them here, then she needs to go into further detail why we shouldn't outside of a few rude phone calls. And, let's face it, if you paid for goods and they didn't come out satisfactory, you might be a little upset too. As far as I'm concerned, I don't see enough evidence here to prevent me from working with this customer.

Well, still I think this is nothing a customer can "just" do. If you're not satisfied with someone's work, you've at least got to give them a chance to correct the flaw, and not just take money off.
I don't know how it works in America, but here in Germany there's even a law stating that. It's only after multiple unsuccessful attempts that you can demand a full/partial refund.

So while I think awake_till_dawn made mistakes as well, it still doesn't make right what the customer did, and I wouldn't want to do work for her.

Thanks for showing us all not to do business with you either.
"cuntrag" is childish stupid things you call each other on play grounds, not what you call customers that you happen to not agree with.
And sure the post belongs here, but so does my comment that suggests there were better ways to handle this

"she sent the first set - which she did wrong and she had to re send them. still they were not right but I tryed to work around them."

Something's not right with that. Despite being shorted on some of your money, you are at least partially at fault for accepting a hand tracing that you KNEW was incorrect, second time or not. If you're sewing something that is supposed to go on someone's body, you ALWAYS need to get the correct measurements. Never assume something will fit when their template is wrong.

If they can't give you the measurements correctly, don't take on the project. Why spend time making a set of paws that you don't even know are correctly measured or not? All it caused you was a headache and possibly bad reputation from her mouth. =\

By no means am I suggesting that the other artist was justified in shorting you money. She wasn't. All I'm saying is that this wouldn't have happened if you had just worked with measurements that were right instead of winging it. If she didn't provide them, you should have continued rejecting the templates until they were right.

I'm not trying to be hard on you or anything. I do feel bad that the experience happened. I just hope that you don't try to work with bad measurements again. It was really nice of you to rush her the paws, even though they didn't fit. As for her harassing text messages --there was no reason for that, and I think that was quite uncalled for on her part. If anything, childish. Depending on how much short notice she commissioned you for her deadline, that's probably equally as stupid of her since she apparently doesn't know how to do something as simple as tracing her own hand. -.-

I hope you have better luck with this in the future.

Off-topic, but glad to see the icon I made is still getting used. :D I made both the Alli and the Horde version of your icon. ;)

Had no idea who made it, but I'm glad that you're okay with me using it. :3

It's okay, I don't mind! Since it didn't take too much work and it's not like I did the artwork, I certainly don't mind sharing it. :) The only time I'm iffy about icons is if I did the actual art in them myself or if it's of a personal character. :P Glad you enjoy it! Like I said, I'm happy it's getting usage!

Eeep! I saw ObsidianWolfess' Nelf kitty icon and was about to ask him/her if there was a Tauren version. Low and behold, I scroll down and see one. Mind if I use it with credit? It's very lovely :)

I'm probably going to use the tauren and tree one as well then. But now that I know, I'm definitely gonna give credit. (which makes me happy as fux too)

The way I see it - if the customer pitched a fit at being told how to do a proper hand tracing that would have guarenteed (at least) a better glove fit, then you should have just cut your losses right then and there instead of pushing through with it; especially considering that she had not paid you any money at that point.

It probably would have been better in the long run to just not work with her if she was going to give you an attitude. =\

I do agree that it was silly to do paws from a tracing of a hand but it sounds like she is just sour about the thing. If she wanted the paws right she should have asked what you needed and given it to you.

The fact that you said you would fix it but her refusing to send the paws back is just STUPID on her part, specially leaving nasty messages.

I think both are at fault, but you are being adult about it and she's just being childish. Unless you get the paws back you can't fix it for her and making a new set would be more hassle then needed.

Sorry this happened =(
