Obviously no pay would be involved, because it would be for charity. However, I've heard of so many "give us free art!!" scams that I'm paranoid about it.
Could those of you who know more about art business than I give me your input?

Date: 2008-11-09 09:31 am (UTC)Even charities give something to those who do services such as art. The local rescue shelter does tshirt contests with the local highschools and they offer a $100 cash prize.
Some money is better than none, or a give it and watch em run.

Date: 2008-11-09 12:35 pm (UTC)You've already heard my opinion on this, it hasn't changed, imho it looks badly organised, ill-defined and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. :P

Date: 2008-11-09 08:35 pm (UTC)Being an artist myself I figured that if everyone online was too worried to participate, then I could do most of the artwork myself. I work in an animation studio and I already have a bunch of people interested in participating anyways so it's not a huge loss. It'd be really nice to have a wide variety of styles but it's TOTALLY understandable! I guess this guy asking for this site probably isn't an artist himself? Or he could just draw these things himself?
How do you know the person asking is trustworthy? There's no way to tell unless you know them, really. I guess you could do it if you really don't care if they make money from your art and keep it for themselves from it or not. If you care about that then don't do it - if you don't really mind and have the free time then go right ahead! It's very much a personal thing, in my opinion. Personally, if I didn't know the person organizing it I probably wouldn't participate!
I guess it's a bad idea to ask people I don't personally know, but I will anyways, the worst that could happen is they just say no! Heck it'd be great if people just bought the finished book instead! :)
Haha, this reply is so random and everywhere, I'm just kinda typing thoughts out - sorry!

Date: 2008-11-09 11:45 pm (UTC)Where you looking at color or just like inks and whatnot?

Date: 2008-11-11 03:23 am (UTC)I was originally just thinking of black & white (sketched or inked) but I still have to work out the cost difference in printing for colour vs b&w - I'm thinking that colour would probably sell better.
I'll definitely put you on my e-mail list for when I get everything properly sorted out - thank you so much! :D
