I'm new, I never post because I've never had issues with customers, however, I lurk for the information of who to stay away from. However, Today I have something.

I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a young man, who lives in itally, that likes to befriend artists, buy them gifts, etc. and buy their art.

After perchaseing a bunch of my artwork, he turned around and is now currently trying to sell it on e-bay.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3764119332&fromMakeTrack=true

He is also trying to sell Thornwolf's, and Huskie's on there aswell.

So please, do not sell, trade, etc, anything, with the users: listening_to_you

This is his furbid user name also, his real name is Michele. Do not sell to this young man!

Thanks. :D

Out of curiousity, what makes it diffrent than what people do on furbid all the time?

He bought the art, he's reselling it. It's not like any of the characters are copywrited, and he's not linking the art from any of your accounts...so...what's to beware?

Well, atleast for Thorn's, he's not selling the originals, despite what the auction says. She still owns most of that art, (I've seen two of those images at her house, recently.)

Well, he did state that two of them are prints, and two are originals.

I thought the whole point with Thornwolf was he was reselling copywrited characters, and could possiably get HER in trouble for "selling" Balto and Jenna, especially since he mentions it's a "comission"

And that he made the prints by printing the pictures off the computer himself. (I don't know if this is the case or not. But if it is, it's another reason to be angry.)

People resell prints, comissions and originals all the time. This seems to be what's happening in Selunca's case. It's not really a bad thing, apart from what he's doing to Thornwolf (With the copywrite, linking directly from her gallery...). Huskie and Selunca aren't really an issue, because it's original art, which he paid for, and he's just reselling.

Unless they had some sort of written "no resell" agreement, there's really nothing wrong here.

Some artists don't allow their art to be resold :/

Once it's sold it's not really the artists' call anymore.
They still own copyright and commerical rights and everything, but there's nothing you can do to stop re-selling. Would be odd if there was a law against that, would you also not be able to sell your old furniture or something anymore then?

Well, I'm not sure this is really specifically geared towards a bad commissioner or a bad person for that matter. This sort of thing is common.

Throughout history art has been bought and sold. Its a lurcritive trade, and furry art is not exempt from this. When you sell something, you of course still retain the rights to the image as the artist. (and he displayed "NOTE: These drawings are (c) Selunca") He's not trying to "steal" your art that he paid you for. He's reselling it, and thats within his rights once you traded money for the originals.

Unless you had him sign an agreement that he would not resell these images, there's really nothing you can do (aside from trying to pursuede people to not sell their art because people "might" resell it) .. but its within their right to do so. And people do it all the time, and will continue to do so as long as there's value in artwork.

You know... I was wondering why someone would sell fur art on Ebay. Someone post a link to the auctions over on A.F.F (Alt.Fan.Furry).

If you buy a print or original from an artist, it's perfectly ethical (if maybe a bit gauche) to turn right around and resell it. People are not allowed to: make additional prints of the same picture and sell them, publish the picture for profit, or sell it when there was an agreement between the artist and purchaser not to resell.

So what the guy is doing is kind of tacky, but not illegal.

Yeah, and I don't like it either. But at least he's not getting any bids so far.

He can resell the original if he wants, or a print if he bought it from you. If it's an unauthorized copy then you can stop it by reporting it to eBay.
