Disappearance
Aug. 3rd, 2010 11:40 amWhile there are only fuzzy details as to why this may have happened, the FA artist SukebePanda has vanished from the site completely (all art deleted, shouts and journals wiped when she left.) This was after a good bit of a hiatus from art, though still occasionally posting advertisements for her second life avatars for sale.
Of course, this isn't in and of itself a big deal, but she had at least several commissions in queue I know of (I don't know the actual number, but I can cite several cases including myself and friends, and I know there are more) that were never completed. I'm making this post mostly to a) make sure anyone else that had something lined up with her knows that she has disappeared, and b) to see if anyone still maintains regular contact with her and can at least get an answer if there will be refunds or if commissions will be finished, etc. Most of these commissions to my knowledge were taken on late last year, so the commissioners have been waiting a good bit already with no word on any progress at all.
Edit note: Artist has posted a journal inviting commissioners to be refunded if they so desire, and I have personally received a refund from her as well.

Date: 2010-08-04 05:14 am (UTC)As for the previous dissapearance since last year, it could just be life. I had that happen with someone I commissioned in the past. I essentially waited two and a half years before I finally just told the artist to refund me. The person had multiple raw deals and they just weren't in the shape to work on it. And no, I'm not naming the person.
Honestly I feel it's kinda quick to call scammer on this.

Date: 2010-08-04 05:25 am (UTC)Or at least that's what I'd like. Personally I'm a big enough man to just want one or the other, and if Sukebe is up to it an apology wouldn't go amiss either.

Date: 2010-08-04 05:37 am (UTC)And because you seem to think that I put pictures out just anywhere, no I didn't. I stupidly gave them to someone 9 to 10 years ago who is a drama whore, always has and always will be, and because I didn't accept his Facebook friend add, he flipped out and decided to post them for everyone to see. That's what you get for associating with completely unstable people in your past.
So I flipped and deleted my stuff because I was pissed off all around.
You know my current living out of the country as well, things have been up and down with immigration, and I haven't drawn a lick of anything. I've been holding on to see if things would pick back up, but they haven't.
So I'm quite fine with paying any of my commissioners back for what work is owed, all they have to do is contact me and I'll reply. I'm able and willing to do so, I just hope people can see WHY I didn't put anything on my FA, because like I said..posting a journal would only bring in links to that thread. If only FA had a comment disabling system I could easily have posted a notice all around.
*PHEW* Anywho! That's that. TL:DR I'm sorry I'm a fat slob who's lost their interest to draw and thought I could get it back. If I owe you something, send me a new email and I'll be happy to get back to you asap. PEACE

Date: 2010-08-04 08:31 am (UTC)People have paid you for a service and the onus is on you to contact them in order to refund them. Indeed, assuming you've taken payment via paypal, you should be able to refund them I think, without having them have to contact you in the first place.
By requiring them to contact you, esp. since you've deleted everything on your FA account (inc. contact details!) and some people will therefore assume you've gone "underground", it puts an additional barrier in the way of people getting back their money and increases the possibility that they might give up, since many artists have vanished owning commissions in the past.
>I just hope people can see WHY I didn't put anything on my FA,
People can make shouts on your FA account page no matter what, so you could have simply left a shout with contact details on there and then deleted any shouts making reference to the drama and blocked the person making them if nesc. Although the onus should still be on you to contact your commissioners/pay them back in the first place IMO.
Indeed, I see that you've already recently (last day) logged into FA to delete all your shouts. you could have left a shout then.

Date: 2010-08-04 01:19 pm (UTC)In any case, people always could have contacted me. Most, do not. There are some who just never get back in contact with me after a commission.
My statement still stands.

That you've contacted a few of your commissioners, that's a good start and I hope you refund them all or come to some sort of arrangement or whatever. :)

Date: 2010-08-04 04:16 pm (UTC)However, you suggest your commissioners simply contact you if they want to talk about something, but I've tried multiple times and methods to reach you since March (including several e-mails, a note on FA, and adding your publicly displayed MSN. I also tried poking around on Second Life, but in the end asked a friend who had spoken to you before if they could get in contact with you, and this was the only method that yielded any results at all, and not really that much came of that.)
I'm not sure if the email landed in the spam filter or what; I both responded to an existing email chain concerning the commission and sent a new email just in case that was what happened.
I didn't want to make a shout about it or post here, but the lack of response was rather disheartening; the deletion of the content on your profile without any publicly seen reason was just the final push for me as far as needing to post something here went.
I can understand why you would not want to post anything up on FA, but if you currently use a different email than the one you used to take the commissions, maybe you should switch back for the time being or make sure the commissioners know there's another one they need to contact?

Date: 2010-08-04 04:23 pm (UTC)I put a little informative shout onto my page, and I've already gone through and sent messages to a few of my commissioners via notes. I still use the same email, but it's a big flooded box, the flat out easiest way is to get a new email regarding the situation so I can handle it quickly.
I'm at my PC waiting, and able, to issue refunds. I'm just waiting on the other parties responses now.
