Not sure if this is on topic enough, but I need to ask about an active commissioner who does a lot of business with this community.

A rather infamous drama community favorite buys tons of commissions, so I'm assuming she's a good customer.
She approached me not about art, but about my My Little Pony collection.  She expressed an interest in buying some and I'm trying to downsize.  I'd really like to do this, but her reputation for drama kind of has me scared.
Can people surrounded by drama be reliable customers?  Should I give her name and just ask for her commissioned artists to speak about their experiences with her?  I don't want to get in a position where I get stiffed or dragged around.

[Edit] I should specify it is Anailaigh

What kind of drama?
If she pays on a timely manner, don't worry too much about it.

I second the question "what kind of drama?"

And I think a name drop would be helpful so anyone can go "Don't do business with them, it's not worth the trouble" or "sure, they got drama, but they're reliable, go for it."

I don't mean to start up anything off topic, but this situation does remind me of when my friend was approached by a Allan (aka "LupineAssassin", I think). My friend ended up turning down the commission since she didn't want her business to be tainted by his reputation. But personally, I think it depends on the commissioner's background. And whether they pay on a timely matter.

You're correct - LupineAssassin is also known as Allan.

And you're also correct in regards to his reputation, or rather, what people -claim- about it. Artists that have done commissions or gifts for the guy have gotten backlash from other furs who don't like him at all for whatever reason.

Since this is vague, even if someone 'has a history of drama', but more or less can pay, doesn't have a history of demanding refunds over nothing, or doesn't owe other people money they've been avoiding paying back, I don't see what the problem would be with selling to them.

Selling ponies isn't really much like taking an art commission. It's not like they can be picky, or demand things that make you uncomfortable, or any of those problems. Get money up front, ship ponies with delivery confirmation of some kind, and you'll be fine. :)

That's my thought. It's a single transaction, so if they're just an overly dramatic person, I don't think it will matter. On the other hand, if it's drama regarding transactions then I might reconsider or make adjustments (e.g. pay first, state that everything is as is, no returns, etc.)

It is possible for someone to be dramalicious in one aspect but perfectly agreeable in another. If you're worried, though, there's nothing wrong with asking for a general opinion of the person's business behavior.

If you want your ponies to go to a good and loving home, I'd advice NOT selling them to her. D: But then again I'm biased.

Does this person's name start with an 'A' and end with an 'h'?

I'd be more worried about where the money was coming from, if so.

def will say that it does depend on what type of drama. But you are selling "goods" like your would say on [livejournal.com profile] garagesalejapan or like an ebay type thing. I do not believe that you would have a problem; they say I want X of the MLP you are selling; you give them a price for the MLP and shipping; they pay; you ship.

I personally would wonder where the money is coming from, but as long as she pays you in full, plus shipping up front, I don't see what the problem would be in selling to her.

Now I'm curious who you are looking to unload! XD

Edit: also going to second the Signature confirmation. Make sure she uses paypal too so that way you are protected.

Make sure she uses Paypal AND has a confirmed address, and ship ONLY to that address, with signature confirmation. Then, in theory, you are covered.

I'm going to go with the assumption someone made above with this being Anailaigh.

If it is, she is generally a good customer, although the money she gets is questionable in the past.
The only downside is, she will ride you like a bitch until it is in her hands. Set up rules before hand, and if they are pre-made just ship them ASAP.

If it is not Anailaigh, then it depends on the drama / person.

As much as she can be a pain in the butt over free art, she does pay up on time. Never heard of her not doing so. I think you're fine.

as long the artist in question keeps things in order.. Ahna is famous for trying to be manipulative or getting people into her "murrfamily" all the time.

My advice is if your gut is telling you it's a fish, turn them down politely. You should trust your own instincts.

Get payment, make sure it clears, THEN mail to her. Other than that, I wouldn't really make too much chat with her, she seems to twist words easily.

Good luck!!

I think you're good as well. Just make sure payment clears before you send a thing. Making sure signature confirmation or tracking is available would definitely be a plus. I've yet to hear about her doing anything nasty to people in business deals besides being picky about art.

I'd be careful she doesn't try to take them for cheaper than they are worth. She asked me for a quote on customs and thought I could do her rainbow zeolf AND her previous mate for 15$ each. That alone wouldn't have paid for the hair needed for hers D:

Other than drama and stuff she seems like an alright girl. When I was having some medical issues she was nice enough to step up and give me advice since she was had the same issue prior. (I looked up online the advice she gave me and it was pretty sound.) She seemed genuinely worried even though I don't know her other than drama stuff so it made me feel bad for just thinking she was crazy.

O_o Dear Jesus $15 for a custom pony? If they want it colored with sharpies and Lisa Frank stickers maybe. *shudders* Pricing like that is very atrocious.

Personally, yes.
I have my share of drama but I've never ripped anybody off or bailed or didn't pay for anything I've bought.

I'd be worried if she has drama involving paying/buying for things. Other than that, idk. I don't think so. Just make sure you get the money first.
