Still haven't gotten it
Sep. 23rd, 2005 03:03 pmAnother update to this: http://www.livejournal.com/community/artists_beware/45827.html
No, I'm not going to let it go.
That's a lot of money to just throw away.
It's been 11 weeks since she said it would go out and I've gotten the feeling from how she's posted to her list that she's just waiting for those she's ripped off to drift away and forget about all the money they gave her.
Well, she picked the wrong customer to rip off. I won't give this up until I a. get my plush or b. get my money back. If the plush is finished, as she supposedly claims, then WHAT is the problem (aside from a million bad excuses)?

Date: 2005-09-23 09:28 pm (UTC)I just went through something kinda like this, but it was only $100 for a painting... this is a painful chunk of change in the balance here. I hope you get this resolved.

means nothing until the product arrives at your
doorstep.
I post on my Livejournal and Yahoo group of what set
backs I have to keep from emailing 7 different emails
of the same thing, when I can do it all with one
simple post.
Therefore I will send what I have done ASAP.
Sorry for the headache/heartache."
I emailed her the 16th last time I tried again. Emailing her again tonight. The thing is- she DOES post to her yahoogroup all the time, but about movies. Nothing about the people she's ripped off since.. *runs to check the list* September 6th.

Date: 2005-09-24 01:03 pm (UTC)I don't usually play devil's advocate in these cases. I usually stick by the customer and say that they're (usually!) right, and that it's the responsibility of the artist, most definitely, to keep up with what they promised to take on. Although in most cases, I'm usually placated if the artist maintains contact in some way, and gives updates, even if it's been a while since I've seen any work from them.
In this case, I would actually say I can sympathize with Blaquetygriss. I DO think that she was irresponsible enough to take on far too many projects at once and that she should have had the foresight to percieve she would not have the ability to finish them in a timely manner. However, she IS communicating, and giving updates whenever she can; and it does seem like given the time frame she needs, she will follow through eventually. I understand your frustration at having to wait 3-4 months, but do look at the big picture; it's a pretty involved project, and she has made good on her word for clients within a year or so. Obviously, she shouldn't have taken your request in the first place, but I have faith that she will complete it.
I would be pissed, too, but my advice is just to stay a little more patient. As is obvious from her most recent LiveJournal post, she is fed up, and being angry really will not do anything to help.
$400 hurts, but it's not enough to hire a lawyer over, which will be many times that.
