Looking at her page, I can tell her work is fairly decent and she's obviously swamped with work judging by her huge list of outstanding work, she could easily charge more and be a bit more choosey about what work to take.
Could we see some evidence of the time frame for which you commissioned her? Perhaps also some idea of how much you paid? because since she's only charging $1 for an icon, I'm wondering if her prices are way too low across the board.
That said, it has only been four months since october of last year, admittedly that's a bit longer than many artist's aim for but it's still not half a year. Could we also see the note you sent her if possible? It may have just been lost in the shuffle if as you say she is a very busy artist.
I clear out my notes fairly regularly, so I'm afraid I don't have a copy of the note I sent her. I could send her another, but somehow I don't think it would do any better. I might have a go at it, but I'll give it until the end of February. I was more just posting here so others could avoid commissioning her if they want art in a hurry.
Oh, and I paid $15. It's a pinup commission, and you can probably look at her outstanding artwork list, My username is Txontirea. Riiight down at the bottom. >.
That's ridiculous, especially considering the huge backlog she has. Perhaps contact the other people waiting for full commissions and complain to her together? Maybe she's in denial about her huge waiting list?
Maybe. I just really want to cut and run though. I swore to myself last time I wouldn't commission her for anything other than icons. After flicking through the site, and seeing how many people have been waiting a year for art etc, I can't really say mines that bad, atm. But considering I AM at the bottom of a HUGE list, and it's already been 4 months...
Nope. It appears that she adds things in a reverse order, the list grows from the top down over time. But yet, she does them in the top to bottom order.
This is exactly why I closed commissions. I still do need to open up little things from time to time to get my bills paid, but gosh I hate having people wait 2-3 months for stuff :|
I went looking for some proof through her journals to back up your story since you have none of your own and I found this journal (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1920599/) from two months ago. Here's a screen capture in case she deletes it here (http://oi55.tinypic.com/1114ayd.jpg)
This journal kind of blew me away and explains maybe some of the problems you're having. While I can feel for her situation she describes, some of her attitudes in that journal are disheartening. I'm not sure if you've read this has read this or not.
To me it sounds like a bunch of "wah wah I have no self-discipline feel sorry for me". I can understand not wanting to do something after you've been nagged because I have the same problem, but I can at least admit to myself that it's because I'm stubborn and want to do things my way, not because I have some sort of mania. I lol'd.
Just read all of that, and some things in that are definitely a bit worrying. I think I'll give it another month, and then I'll have to resort to noting once a day for a refund. I doubt she'll be very happy with me, but...I won't be dealing with her again on anything bigger than an icon. Some of her things she's going through, are fair enough, but yet throughout all this, she still has commissions open. I feel like that kinda negates the point of feeling overworked.
It looks like she orders them alphabetically! I'm not saying it gives her a free pass, but in that case being at the bottom doesn't mean much. There are certainly some that come first in the alphabet that haven't been started even though people after them have.
She has an advertisement slot on the front page of Fur Affinity, so I am sure that she is swamped just from that little advertisement slot alone.
It does does not excuse her waiting list being that massive and long. If she is going to sell commission slots, then she must be willing to bust her ass to keep up with her customers.
Exactly. But the fact is that she won't take down commissions ever. Her work load is huge, and she claims to draw for a living. The prospect of constant cash flow is a tempting one, but she needs to be able to provide the product her customers want.
