WHAT: Originally it was for a traditional badge for 23$ that I was REALLY looking forward to, i had commissioned it in may in hopes of having it by my birthday June 28. A year and a half later I sent an email asking what was up, and the order was changed to a pinup since i had waited so long. It was also supposed to be traditional, and mailed out to be upon completion like the badge was supposed to be.

Then in November of 2009, i sent this email, to which i got no reply


on august 23 2010 i sent this email


on august 29 2010 she finally answered back to me. the following screencaps are messages sent back and forth between me and her. the bottom is what she says, and the top bit is what i answer back. they have the dates on them







on august 31st she send me the sketch for approval, it looked nice.



September 11, 2010 she sends me a photo she took of the colored piece. her scanner wasn't working, so it wasn't a quality picture that i saw.


September 12 2010 i answered her email about my address and such


17 days later, September 29, 2010, still hadn't gotten it in the mail, wondering if she had sent it? i got no answer back


November 24, 2010 sent another email, no answer back


April 1, 2011, getting upset, sent another email, still no answer back



April 16, 2011. sent a note on FA, even though she said she doesn't communicate through notes on FA (messed up IMO) FA indicates that note hasn't even be read.








WHEN: I provided time line information with the images, but i payed and got the commission OKed on May 20th 2009, got a finished product (though not the one i originally asked for) on September 11, 2010, and still have yet to have it sent to me in the mail as promised.

EXPLAIN: I had always liked her art, so i had gotten a little bit of money to spend in my paypal and really wanted to buy myself a birthday gift. My birthday was on June 28th. I had commissioned the badge on May 20th, hoping it was enough time to be able to see it by my birthday. I wasn't too upset when my birthday passed and hadn't gotten it yet. Maybe a month wasn't enough time to do a badge? Christmas started to approach and I was like...well hey, X-mas gift to myself instead. Nothing. Then another birthday passed, so I got upset and tried contacted them more and telling them how upset I was with emails. She said she was sorry and upgraded my commission to a pinup instead of a badge, and told me they would still ship it out to me. September 2010 I got a low res photo of the finished image and was told to send my mailing address, which I did. From that point on I sent emails telling them I hadn't gotten it yet and asking if they had sent it. I never got an responses back and still haven't gotten it. I don't even have a good scanned version..They still upload things often, so I know they didn't like...die or anything. I am really upset about all of this, and now I am moving again, so if they send it out now without contacting me or answering my emails, it'll go to a wrong address and I will never get it.

Approved, but a couple of things:

1) If you could please put the images beind an lj-cut (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=75)?

2) Many artists don't use notes on FA due to what happened last November with several people's notes getting leaked and posted publicly.

That said, I'm sorry to hear that Squeedge hasn't sent your badge. She's been one of my favorite artists on FA for awhile now. Hopefully this can get resolved.

It always seems odd to me when people can't send something out when it's already done. I mean, there's not much point in keeping it.

I know, going thru the same with a different artist myself. She finished her commission and showed me a photo of it, the only thing pending is a proper hi-res scan but has failed to produced it since -- this was 2 months ago, and now her town was one of the ones affected by all these storms -- so it's unlikely getting a scan is high in her priority list.

Oh wow, this is really disappointing to see. She's one of my favorite artists too. D: I know she does have an LJ, so hopefully she'll be able to see this soon and get back to you finally about what happened to the finished picture.

From what I've gathered she doesn't seem the type to scam people, but I'm at a loss for why you wouldn't get responses for so long. She's been active in other places, the newly agreed upon picture was finished, and she even did those headshot commissions recently on FA. :[ That's the contact email she has posted to her profile too...

Did you by chance ever comment on her journals or post a shout on her page? I know she says she doesn't read notes, and she should've responded to your emails as-is, but just curious if she ignored other methods of contacting her as well.

She's done similar stuff to a couple of friends of mine, one of whom had to wait over 2 years for a digital piece, with her choosing to ignore almost all of his communications. :/ When he did get it, it was rushed and obviously below quality.

I'd honestly like to know who you're talking about. Not to start drama, but to set things straight if someone feels I've wronged them in the past.

Because I don't remember ever taking that long to do a digital commission, and I can sincerely say I've never rushed anything, ESPECIALLY if it took that long to do. Anytime a commission has taken me longer than planned, I've tried to compensate by doing something extra.

First and foremost, I want you to know I haven't intentionally been ignoring you. I am, however, entirely behind with correspondence. My email and FA/DA inboxes are swamped, and although I've been trying to sort through it all, I've been completely overwhelmed. Your messages were probably buried under everything. And, if you did try to contact me via comment or shout I... must've missed it. I apologize.

Anyway, that's all my problem, not yours, and I know it's not right you've waited so long without a response OR your art.

Not sure if you know this, but I've moved twice in the last year --from Washington to Canada and then back to Washington-- and a lot of the art I had been meaning to send off got misplaced amongst the chaos, which has set things back considerably. I did sort things out a while ago, and had your art packaged and ready to go, I... just... didn't send it. God knows why I've procrastinated this long, but I just didn't take the time to go to the post office.

Anyway, I do have it with me right now. I just took it out of the original mailer, so I can send it to you with the correct new address. My LJ inbox is the only thing that isn't swamped, so would it be possible to message me here?

Uh, the sketch and the chibi thing were gonna be surprises, but I might as well let you know about them now, ahah. I know that doesn't make up the wait, but it is a token of "Oh god I really truly am sorry about all this."

I haven't received confirmation from thepurplemoomoo that she's received the art yet, however, I did send things out. And, according to USPS Track & Confirm, it has arrived as of May 31st at 2:03pm.

Glad to see this was resolved! Annnd just wanted to chime in - not everyone uses notes on FA, I personally don't and many many artists choose not to =\ it's not "messed up", it's just a choice people make since FA is rather unreliable.

The idea of them disappearing freaks me out a bit, however, I've never dealt with addresses over FA as I work digitally and offer high resolution print files via email/FTP. So, their security doesn't bother me too much as my paypal has to be pretty close to unhackable.

I'm really bad at keeping up with multiple emails/sources and all that so I really hope it doesn't screw up and force me to switch to an alternative. >_>

Personally I think the worst part about notes is how disorganized it is and you can get a lot of random notes sometimes. I used to work by note and it can be easy to loose them in a mess, and I delete things all the time, so that's saying something.

And while I'll get a random note here and
there it's not too bad when I'm only looking
for one name.

I used to take more and should I ever do so again
I'd definitely consider organizing in the same way.
