Hello guys! ^^ Yes, this is Sebelrai, but I got a new account because I kind of... lost my password to my sebelrai one.... Anyways, I've been so caught up with the whole fiasco with "Mangax" and helping online communities to deal with them (the entry I made right before this one) that it didn't occur to me to update you all about Shadyah.

I have received my artwork from her.

However:

It is nothing like what she had showed me in the "progress screenshots" she sent, nor is it even finished.

(Sorry for the bad picture, I just hastily took a photo with my cell phone because my scanner is packed away.) Here is what I received in the mail from her. It's a quickly scrawled doodle in black pen and half-coloured with some kind of coloured pencils.

And on the back, there's some kind of pencil doodle.

Uhm.... I am very unsure of how to think about this....

Oh no, that looks like it was doodled out in 10 mins. Eurgh, no, that's not on, it's clearly a bit of scrap doodle.

So did they refund you as they said they would (http://artists-beware.livejournal.com/457956.html)?

If they did that then this seems a lot less skeevy of a move to pull.

Yep, that's what I'm trying to determine. If the OP was refunded in full, then sending the art (in whatever state of completion) was nice but not exactly required.

Wow, lame.

Yeah if they refunded you that'd be different, but if ALL they gave you was some barely-finished art and no refund like they said, then yeah, no, that's pretty bad

haha what?

Did you at least get the refund she promised?

That's um...nice and all, but...wha?
Was there any explanation from her at all?

That's really shady. My first thought when I saw this was "what a slap in the face" because I mean really...wtf? What on earth is the justification behind this? Besides the possibility she sent you someone else's drawing, as another commenter suggested, I can't see any other reason for her to do this than to say "eff you, here's SOMETHING, leave me alone." :/

She seems to be trying to wiggle out of her contract to me. You commissioned a work for a lower price and she gives you 1/2 a work. Warhol pulled the same shit once upon a time.

It's kind of clear to me that she's simply trying to cover her ass by being able to say that she did deliver art, even if it's not up to standards or even the right medium.

Did she.. did she accidentally package up the wrong drawing to send to you? What on Earth is going on here?

If she didn't refund you like she said you would, keep pressing her for that refund. Send her a picture of what she sent you as well just in case she really did send you the wrong thing. Because honestly, there is no way someone could see that and think it's acceptable.

If she refunded you, then I'd say consider it resolved, since as long as you're refunded the full amount, she's technically not required to deliver any product.

If she hasn't refunded you however, you either deserve the full refund or the work originally promised. This looks pretty half-assed and definitely should not be considered adequate compensation.

Any chance you'd share the progress screenshots? Or were those in the other posts and I just missed them?

D: If she refunded you then there isn't much you can do. But that sketch is GAWD AWFUL, and half-assed. I wouldn't draw something on a used piece of paper. :/

If refunded, there's nothing much you can do. I read the other entries and there was a possibility of the MO being in the same package? If you have that, just shrug it off and move on =\

If she didn't, then...*facepalm*

uhhh

so she didn't refund you like she promised, and she sends you some not-completed art, even though your commission was for fully colored art...

One of them isn't even a complete sketch, it's just a basic figure. Um.

I know what you should think of this. It's totally unacceptable. It looks like she did all this artwork in 15 minutes or less.

You have her address since you shipped a money order to her, yes? If she's not answering emails, maybe write her a letter? Address is also nice since you might remind her that you have it and you could take this to small claims court or something (prolly more trouble than it's worth, but it might make a good incentive for her to reply).

Not the character itself , but the pose and dress with the crwon. Reminds me of one of chii's poses in one of her art books.

So, once upon a time:
1. She threw a huge hissyfit and harassed you for posting her on A_B
2. She apologized profusely, admitted she'd been bratty and that her behavior was unacceptable, and promised to not only refund you your $15, but send you the artwork she'd done
3. Sends you artwork that looks nothing like what you saw in your progress shots, art that is a) half-colored (better that it not be colored at all, honestly) b) scribbled hastily c) HAS ANOTHER FREAKING SKETCH ON THE BACK
4. ...and still doesn't return the money she promised.

Yeah, I'd say this post needs to be here. This is unacceptable. Please be sure to update your other post with the apology email in it, because if people don't see THIS post, they may think she mended her ways.

In my honest opinion...

This, to me, would be a giant slap in the face.

To take me thru ALL that and then to send this?! I, personally, would be so insulted! Like she just rubbed her butt on toilet paper and mailed it...like...put this in your pipe and smoke it for all the drama you sent my way.

It's all very disrespectful, unprofessional, and unbelievable! If it weren't for the screencaps I would have almost called your bluff!

tl;dr
She needs to return the money as promised and work on her business practices

What were the progress pictures she sent you, for comparison?

Either way, that is unacceptable, and how did she not think that would come back to slap her in the face?

This just tells me never to commission her, because the things she pulled were completely unprofessional!

DX That went from unprofessional to SCUMBAG. How the hell can they send you a TOTALLY DIFFERENT if not ass-tastic "final product"?!

U_U This person has absolutely no business taking commissions.

Ugh! And she was SO close to being given some sort of forgiveness. She sent you (what seemed to be) an incredibly sincere apology, promised a refund AND picture (even though you told her it was okay if she kept the money if she would just send you the art) and then, when she's so close to making things right for herself and for her reputation, she does THIS.

I'm going to go ahead and say that was her last chance at redemption for me. Bleh.

Do you by any chance have a screenshot of the commission prices/examples post she made so you have concrete proof against her when she comes back and tries to say that that was the kind of drawing you paid for?

Sorry for the late reply, but I see. Do you by chance have any references of your original character? I just want to see the comparison between what it was supposed to look like and what she gave you...
