WHO: Alex Dachshund @ Furaffinity

WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/alexdachshund/

WHAT: It was agreed as a digital peice, A rave picture for a picture of one of my chars. It was so long ago I cant even remember what I wanted. :\

WHEN: About 7 months ago, here is my half: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5208869/  (NOTE: For pictures like these, I charge about 20$+)

PROOF: http://imageshack.us/f/18/alexdacca.png/

EXPLAIN:  .7 months ago, we agreed to a trade. And I finished mine, as seen above. He said He'd finish his. I kept reminding him after a month later, so I waited again... he was busy. So I was like "ok~ :3" And 7 months pass. he opens many journals stating "trades open" (I only found this one) So I reminded him again. he quickly shied out.

I dont know what to do here... X__X any help?

he offered to finish it after he finished some commsions, but he keeps taking commisions and getting backed up again.
And now because of incidents like this, I CANT do trades with strangers.

I really do apologize for this. I really do, I didn't mean to cause so much trouble over this. :(

Honestly, I will admit it, when it comes to trades, I'm pretty lazy with them and I have a hard time keeping up with them. Because of this scenario, I'm going to change my rules and just restrict trades to friends only and *I* will do the work first from now on and show the tradee (is that even a word, haha?) a preview image.

Thanks for posting it here and showing my mistakes. Now I acknowledge what I did was wrong and I won't offer trades publically anymore since I have trouble keeping up with them.

If you know you have a hard time with trades, then why did you do them?

I hope you realize this not only looks poor on your trade-record, but on your commission record as well? Just saying "Sorry, I'm lazy about trades" is a pretty cruddy cop out. You're copy-pasting the same response in the other post about you, and it's irritating.

You need to step back and figure out your work ethic on a more serious level, because you know how damaging bad reviews can be when you're looking for work.

Again, copy-pasts of the same generic apology isn't helping. Why don't you try something more sincere, and contact each ex-trade individually to work things out? The least you could do is that.

Very this.

But the thing that bugs me is that here, they're saying they're lazy and forgetful yet clearly says in the screenshot that they cancelled, while knowing the other person did they're half.

This really does seem like someone trying to come up with an excuse and failing.

I completely agree, %100. The cancelling after the fact is incredibly bad, and frankly I hope their business suffers as a result. They're going to learn a lesson the hard way.

As I said in an earlier comment, it has~ I had been watching him, and considering asking to commission something, but after this, no way. I just can't really trust someone to handle my transaction if they can't even do a simple sketch trade. And not only that, but their TOS bugs me. So yeah, I hope if anything at all comes from this, that he learns abit about how to deal with transactions, be it a trade or a commission. /end tl;dr

I'm curious, what part don't you like about it?

To me, I really don't like the attitude/tone of voice, but didn't see anything stand out other then no refunds.

Yeah, the tone of voice was a bit off putting to me as well.

I think what bothered me the most was the no refunds policy, in addition to the understanding that it may take anywhere from a several weeks to a few months to complete a commission.
I've never had to request a refund, but emergencies do happen. I'd be very uncomfortable handing over money for that amount of time knowing that it may be a long while before he even got to my commission, without any possibility that I could get it back if something did suddenly pop up.

I hope that makes sense. :( TOS are fantastic in that they protect the artist, but as a commissioner, I'd appreciate a bit of protection myself.

I do disagree with the, several weeks to a few months part. While as a commissioner I can see it being off putting, I think it's also professional to let people know ahead of time that there's a wait. When I open for extra commissions, I write in the journal that I have others to do first, so they'll know there's an extra wait time and they can decide if they find it worth it.

I think it's more then being coupled with no refunds that leaves a bad taste.

Ahh yeah, I think I didn't explain it well enough then. :( I'm totally ok with the artist taking as long as they want on a piece! And while I completely appreciate an artist letting me know his or her schedule, its only that in conjunction with no refunds, regardless of why.
Anywho, I hope that better explains what I mean. I should really try to avoid trying to explain anything after 2Am. It just doesnt work for me, haha :)

Oh! No, that's not what I meant c: I think it's fine if you don't want it to take months. I was just saying it's professional that he's actually letting people know. A lot of people post here because it's been a few months because the artist never mentioned having a huge list or being that slow.

But yes, couplying it with the no refund and attitude, I'd be very turned off as well.

I'm sorry, but the excuse of "I didn't get to it and even though you did your half I'm not doing mine" is a poor excuse. They don't want you to make excuses as to why you haven't done their half or paid them for their work, they want what you agreed to do for them.

Why not just pay for them then?
According to others, you've been commissioning people recently enough. Maybe you need to lay off the commissions and compensate the people you scammed free work off of- because that's really what you did.

Trades aren't free art if you just decide you don't want to keep up with them anymore.

Since you've acknowledged that what you did was wrong are you going to be paying the people or finish your half of the old trades for people who already spent time doing work for you? Your words don't mean much unless they're backed by action.

And do it before newer commissions? It's a bit unfair to put off old work for new work.

And he's taking commissions again 8/

seems like you're taking more trades and commissions.
I thought they were restricted and you were gonna finish your owed work.
you're taking new things and finishing them instead of your backlog.
smart.
