[identity profile] 0acorn0.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] artists_beware

WHO:  Kee/Kyme/Inarolyn/Iaz/Janks/Len/Neicom

WHERE:  http://www.furaffinity.net/user/kee (all the above are also FA accounts that she has hopped between, but Kee is her current).

WHAT: Tracing. Most of the traces are partial and have been "frankensteined".

WHEN: This has been going on for awhile from what I have been able to figure.

EXPLAIN: Again, I was asked to post this here by several people after compiling multiple instances of her tracing of recent. A lot of people felt a public warning should be made, since she jumps accounts quite frequently. She's also traced several times in the past, but I haven't been able to locate the originals.

As an example, this is art from five-six months ago that she drew while living with me:

She's never traced while living with me because I had gotten onto her in the past for copying other artists.

These are the traces I've found evidence of:

Got shown these ones last night:

Almost all the traces have been of artists whom she's watching, the only exception being my own art.

Suspected traces:

http://i42.tinypic.com/14kifzn.jpg (from 2010)     [NSFW]

There were a few others that were TCBY commissions that I am certain were traced, but I never saved the files.

As is evidenced, her anatomy flipflops from really well done, to filled with errors. If anyone can provide originals for some of the suspected traces, it'd be appreciated as well. NO ONE improves that greatly in a five month period, drawing as rarely as she does. I don't think everything she uploads/draws is traced, but much of it is.

Edit: Here's some more overlays with varying opacity's to give a clearer idea of where the lines are a perfect match.

http://i43.tinypic.com/1j9nit.jpg   [nsfw]

Edit2:
I'm redacting my allegations of tracing, as I really don't want to be involved in any drama with this person to start with.

Edit3: I'm sorry, to make it more clear, I am retracting my allegations as there isn't sufficient evidence of tracing going on. I have posted apologies here and on FA.

Fixed overlays with proper aspect ratio:

Here it is in 3 different colors, still matching in the same areas. (I rotated it quickly, so it's not the exact same as the other overlays, but I'm too tired to redo all this again just to be perfect for the naysayers).

There is no WAY any of the above have been distorted, as I did use the shift key as I was told.

OK I feel like I'm talking too much here but I keep finding out new stuff about these "examples"

In example one (http://i44.tinypic.com/s1kksm.jpg), at least, not only is the overlay resized, IT IS ALSO DISTORTED. The overlay of kee's piece is exact, the one by Ajna has been stretched vertically to make things fit. I have tried to overlay the original piece by Ajna and the example overlay and the one in the overlay has clearly been stretched vertically.

I don't know how much time I want to spend going through and seeing if this is the same with each of your samples, and how I can post my own overlays without being a confusing mess, but folks can look for themselves. Maybe later I will see if there's a way to show this.

I'm sorry, but yes, if you stretch and distort an image of a woman standing enough, you can make the waist hip ratio line up somewhat since you've been distorting the waist/hip of one to match the other

Well, here, I did an overlay (http://www.spiffyspace.com/misc/example1acorn.gif) where I traced Ajna's picture (har har har) in your example with a redline, then pasted the picture and resized and rotated it WITHOUT distorting. Resizing may distort an image in Photoshop with transform-->scale (what I use) unless you hold down shift key, which locks the proportions.

I think it's pretty clear the image used in your example has been stretched vertically.

Okay. Well. I went through *every single example* you posted, except for numbers seven and eight, where I only went through the first overlays (not all three overlays).

ALL of the examples have been distorted, not just rotated and resized.

I will post the proof later tonight. I need to do other things right now.

I would personally appreciate if you did that, as it does put some more interesting light on the situation if it's true.

Phew, alright! I made and posted them all here (http://artists-beware.livejournal.com/542457.html?thread=20397817#t20397817) so they won't get burried.

For the record, I've never had a problem with this in SAI. SAI's scale tool works the same as Photoshops.

Thanks to A_B, I've now learned I can scale w/proportions in Sai using the shift key. *heart* Thank you.

Sai and Photoshop have the same scaling ability. I use Sai every day, I use PS every day, there's no difference in how something is scaled in either program. You can SKEW and SCALE in both.

I am disgusted and am finding it difficult now to believe that this was done by accident.

Now there is no lines matching perfectly, and even the ratios the OP keep insisting on may be bunk.

Every single example was distorted.

The only ones I have not checked yet are the second and third overlays of examples seven and eight. The first examples of seven and eight are distorted.

Hardly surprising things line up with that amount of manipulation

I'm trying to work with the overlays of eight, and I'm having troubles having the art line up in the picture where the overlay is with the foot. It seems like the only way I can even remotely get it to line up is to squish the picture vertically.

Mind you, I'll keep trying to see if I can get it to line up. I'm just having a really hard time to get it to match the overlay. o_x

Ok yeah, it's definitely distorted. :/

Seeing that multiple examples were outright distorted to make them match just makes this whole thing seem much more wrong than it is. I thought the artist was at least taking shortcuts initially, but since the overlays were manipulated now I think this is pure grudge.

It is also interesting that only AFTER the manipulation comes out does Acorn apologize.

Who is responsible for the naked female furry in the war bonnet? that's pretty tacky and culturally insensitive, given the fact women never wore war bonnets, and its pretty disgusting to have it culturally appropriated by hipsters let alone furry artists.

Granted, the subject matter may potentially be offensive, but that is a very off-topic discussion for this post and this community, so I am freezing this thread.

I use Sai as well. When you re size a picture, it CAN'T distort unless you click on a shortcut on your keyboard or select "free" under the options, the default option is "transform".

"Free" basically means that you can take a corner, pull it and the picture will distort.

But, there is one way to distort something when you're on "transform", you can squish or elongate a picture, but it can't stretch vertically, like spiffy showed, unless it'd done on purpose.

Date: 2011-11-26 10:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sbneko.livejournal.com
You misunderstood. Squishing can happen, but that's not at all what happened when you look at the pictures again. They're distorted purposely, because they're done so vertically, which you can only do when selecting those options personally.
