[identity profile] 0acorn0.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] artists_beware

WHO:  Kee/Kyme/Inarolyn/Iaz/Janks/Len/Neicom

WHERE:  http://www.furaffinity.net/user/kee (all the above are also FA accounts that she has hopped between, but Kee is her current).

WHAT: Tracing. Most of the traces are partial and have been "frankensteined".

WHEN: This has been going on for awhile from what I have been able to figure.

EXPLAIN: Again, I was asked to post this here by several people after compiling multiple instances of her tracing of recent. A lot of people felt a public warning should be made, since she jumps accounts quite frequently. She's also traced several times in the past, but I haven't been able to locate the originals.

As an example, this is art from five-six months ago that she drew while living with me:

She's never traced while living with me because I had gotten onto her in the past for copying other artists.

These are the traces I've found evidence of:

Got shown these ones last night:

Almost all the traces have been of artists whom she's watching, the only exception being my own art.

Suspected traces:

There were a few others that were TCBY commissions that I am certain were traced, but I never saved the files.

As is evidenced, her anatomy flipflops from really well done, to filled with errors. If anyone can provide originals for some of the suspected traces, it'd be appreciated as well. NO ONE improves that greatly in a five month period, drawing as rarely as she does. I don't think everything she uploads/draws is traced, but much of it is.

Edit: Here's some more overlays with varying opacity's to give a clearer idea of where the lines are a perfect match.

Edit2:
I'm redacting my allegations of tracing, as I really don't want to be involved in any drama with this person to start with.

Edit3: I'm sorry, to make it more clear, I am retracting my allegations as there isn't sufficient evidence of tracing going on. I have posted apologies here and on FA.

Fixed overlays with proper aspect ratio:

Here it is in 3 different colors, still matching in the same areas. (I rotated it quickly, so it's not the exact same as the other overlays, but I'm too tired to redo all this again just to be perfect for the naysayers).

There is no WAY any of the above have been distorted, as I did use the shift key as I was told.

An honest question here: isn't it just as simple for an artist to stretch a piece of art before tracing too? It only seems like they were stretched vert or hor., I was expecting something one end to be small and the other large, or something like that.

Yes it is entirely possible a tracer could skew an image before tracing over it, you just have to balance that against the fact that Acorn morphed the images to make them fit and never made a note with her overlays that she'd manipulated them. I think not mentioning this before is probably what is bothering some people.

It's also worth bearing in mind that manipulating an image to make certain pieces line up with another is very easy to do and it makes the evidence a bit less credible since this could be done with any two images with pose similarities.

Sorry but I can't really see how it could have happened accidentally?

Ah okay so you were shrinking or enlarging them so both pictures were the same size for the overlays, and because the proportions weren't locked they all got skewed a bit lengthways? That makes sense. Gotcha.

I just can't believe that they all happened to get distorted in a way that helped the OP's case by accident, but I'm not inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt either.

Ah, I see what the issue is. Thanks.

Sure, they could.
My point is a) it's easy to make a few things line up if you take two similar poses and distort them, even if they weren't traced
b) the accused in question shows a fairly consistent knowledge of anatomy, including for "difficult" parts such as the face, hands, etc. Why would they distort other artists work in order to trace a hip or butt, then painstakingly render all the proper anatomy around that line or two?
It's a little like saying "my neighbor is breaking into my house and taking only my missing socks. That's why the occasional sock goes missing." Sure, I suppose it's possible, but not likely!

Again, I've never said that the accused is PROVEN never to have traced, because I don't think that's possible to prove. I'm saying the evidence here to prove they WERE tracing is so weak that it's very likely coincidence, and can be done with any two artists who draw similar subject matter even if they don't trace.

Ah, yeah. I was just curious if it was being taken into consideration, and I see that it has.

Still, this whole thing got crazy fast. O_O

The fact is, you can take ANY picture and find others that will fit line for line when stretched, even in just one direction. A few users proved that with the OP's art without even stretching anything. That's why it's not enough--there's reasonable doubt. Innocent until proven guilty, that kind of thing.

Could it happen? Yes. Does this mean we should publicly call out someone with such shaky evidence? No.

They could, but I doubt people would. Stretching almost always distort a picture badly, it makes things look off. People trace because they don't feel like they can draw on they're own, they think they're art is wrong. So it really wouldn't make sense to distort it to hide they're tracing.

It's possible, but the fact that Acorn distorted the images too is what makes everyone suspicious. If she knew that the artist was distorting the images, then why didn't she mention it before hand?

True, someone else mentioned this too. I see what the issue was now.
