WHO: Kimhana on Livejournal and Deviantart; formerly kimhana on Tumblr, URL now taken by another user

WHERE: Deviantart (since deactivated) found here

WHAT: A $40 full color digital picture

WHEN: The commission was discussed and paid for in full in September of 2010. Contact was made again to check in as of January 2011; over the next few months, various accounts of the artist began to deactivate (LJ and Tumblr, specifically). Numerous emails to multiple addresses were not responded to in August and September of 2011; as of December 2011, the artist's Deviantart account, where the commission was originally discussed, was deactivated.

PROOF: A screenshot of the original commission is here (with discussion of the prompt interspersed with personal conversation blacked out for convenience of reading) and a corresponding Paypal screenshot with emails blacked out can be found here .

EXPLAIN: It absolutely breaks my heart to do this, as Kimhana remains a favorite artist of mine. If anyone has any information on her, why she's been deactivating, etc, I would love to hear it. The fact that she's dropped off the face of the internet hurts far more than the possibility of losing a commission. From what I can understand, it seems that she switched fandoms and then proceeded to delete her old accounts. For now, this is the most logical series of events that I can piece together. Best case scenario, she's forgetful and the commission slipped her mind and got brushed under the rug as her interests changed. But in the end, if nothing changes, I have to strongly advise against commissioning her.

RESOLVED - After a few messages, the last of which mentioned the posting here, she responded on Tumblr and was very apologetic. She offered me a number of options, including a full refund. I took her up on the refund, and she has delivered. Thank you all very much for helping me to resolve this old problem - I appreciate it. :)

SECOND EDIT: Turns out the Tumblr I originally linked was, by an eerie coincidence, an entirely different person. Please disregard that.

THIRD EDIT: Evidently she is indeed still very active on tumblr, but under the changed URL http://neophytecherryglare.tumblr.com/ . ...and asking for commissions. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Approved, though if you could post a paypal screenshot with names/emails blocked out in your proof section that would be great, along with the gallery links even though they're deactivated. It never hurts to have as much info as possible!

If I could bother you one more time, could you actually remove the "ltkimchi" part from the tags entirely? I did some searching with the help of the comments below and found out that the person who had held that account was entirely different from the one for whom I am searching. ;; Sorry about that.

Just curious, are you sure they deactivated tumblr? Did you follow them and such?

It could be that they're hiding under another name, which is really common for those who frequent the site.

As a matter of fact, that IS the one where I have some uncertainty. She was gone off of Tumblr by the time I really got on, so I wasn't following her and can't say for sure she deactivated that account. Some Googling revealed a reblogged post of hers that wasn't more than two months old under that URL, which is ... odd. But you're very right, she could have changed URLs. The only reason I'm inclined to say she didn't is because of a rec post from a friend that still links to Ltkimchi. Unfortunately, Tumblr's format makes it easy to just up and move without a trace. :/

Ahhh.
Tumblr doesn't update text posts that get quoted if a user changes their URL. It's a pain in the ass (as i'm someone who constantly changes their url)

BUT there is a way to track it, sort of! If they've truly deactivated, if the post you saw had a source with them as the OP their url will read 'iamaurl-deactivated00304504354' or something like that.
That means their account is COMPLETELY gone.

However, if it simply links to a different name, and the content of the post is the same, they simply changed their urls!

You may not always see this on the dashboard, but if you reblog it yourself, or see who reblogged it, on their layout, it'll give you a Source for who originally posted. Sometimes it might say (via: such and such) that's not the original, just the person who previously reblogged it; it'll link something like 'originally: ihaveacleverurl'

You... are brilliant. Time for my stupid award of the day. I always saw those "deactivated32423546" URLS in association with RP accounts, and thought it was a URL change out of courtesy to free up the other name again and let people know they were gone.

Turns out I was able to find a couple of reblogged art posts from April and pull just what you did there! They all led back to a new blog under a different name entirely - mostly focused in a different fandom, with an altered feel but possibly the same style. Just to confirm that I'm doing it right, here are the things I found:

I agree with your choice of icon. Disturbingly, this is the last artist I would have ever expected to pull this, so I'm jumpy with all my commissions now, too. :/ Definitely would not partake in retrospect.

Screening means I set it so that only moderators and the person who made the post can see it. We don't allow deletion of comments, so this is what we do instead.
