WHAT: 
as you will read in the Explain section of this, Lanuka of FA contacted me in my FA journal in regards to some art that she wanted to have done for her mate. I did let her know that due to my IRL job of the time that it may very well be after Christmas that the piece was completed. Which it was. Upon completion of the piece, I requested payment as at the time I had a "payment upon completion" agreement. Something I have since had to drastically change from this altercation. 

WHEN: Dec. 2nd 2011 was when I posted the journal offering my holiday special prices.
Dec. 17th 2011 was when Lanuka First Contacted me.
Jan.8th 2011 I let her know that her piece was being started.
Jan. 8th I posted the completed lines, something I have since pulled down as there was no payment.
Jan. 9th I posted the final piece, and tried to contact her via note letting her know that the piece was completed and payment was due.
That was the last time that I heard from her as I have now been blocked on FA from sending her any further contact.

		HEY! I'm sorry I haven't gotten to your piece yet :( I feel bad as i realized I never got you on my list. My holiday season was a little more rushed than I had expected it to be both irl as well as the art world. I would love to be able to still work on this for you and will add you to the list. Also I will see about working out a discount of some sort of the severe inconvenience :(

EXPLAIN: When I originally posted the journal up I was hoping to help people out by posting lower prices during the holiday season as I know everyone only has so much to spend and I really do like being able to get people good art at a decent price. Through out the original process Lanuka never mentioned that she might need more time for payment, never asked, never gave any indication that there would be any reason for me to expect her to not pay. So I continued as I have with many other fellow artists and FA people and completed the art. 
She never even posted on the final piece even though I did link to it on her site. though due to other comments its been pushed past my link. Also, I have tried to note her several more times. However, because I was blocked, they went out into the no where of the net and so I unfortunately have no "proof." since it didn't tell me at the time that she had blocked me. 
All I want is payment for the time that I spent creating the art for her. I do know that she has other commissions out right now including one for a rather expensive fur suite. So why slight me? Why not pay me? I was nothing but polite in trying to work with her. This really disappoints me. 
I have contacted the FA admins with the same information as above and hope that there will be some resolution to this problem.

Not that it makes the commissioner right, but why would you start and finish without any payment? It's just a really basic thing you can do to protect yourself. Otherwise, you're investing a lot more in a piece than they are.

If the commissioner posted it to a site (I'm not sure what sort of site this is), you may be able to contact the host about copyright infringement to get it taken down.

I tried no payment upfront, then I tried partial and finally just found that up front payment is the most wise. While that can put the commissioner in a "pickle" if the artist runs out on the deal, It protects said artists that have a good track record in the long run.

If you are turning out commissions in a fairly good time frame, and have satisfied customers, I'd go ahead and start the payment upfront policy. This way things like this never happen again.

I've had a few people bail on me before when I've taken the initial commission that can't pay, but at least I can surrender their slot to someone who can and not be left with art that's not paid for.

I also have a 7 day partial/full refund policy. To make sure if commissioners get them selves into financial trouble I can easily refund (as long as the commission isn't completely done)

But ya, my 2 cents worth.

This saddens me, she'd commissioned me a number of times a few under her old screen-name of: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/jarraxsyrinx/ Which she abandoned in favour of the Lanuka account. And commissioned me once under her new account shown. She disappeared for a while when I owed her some artwork (under her old name) then she eventually contacted me when i was LiveStreaming one day. There was never much problem over payment, but sometimes it was a little late getting to me.

I'm not sure as to the reasoning behind the angry shouts left on her old page, nor asked her why she was "leaving the fandom", and then decided to switch accounts. But it seems a good many people are either waiting on artwork, or refunds from her. So sadly I'm not sure whether you will in fact get the money you're owed :(

I have less problem with asking for everything up front, especially in cases where the art will be completed in c. 30 days. If something goes wrong on the artist side, they can get their money back via paypal. (For larger projects it can work step-wise, where you still pay for the 30 days worth of work.)

Either way though, it's the commissioner's project. Why should the artist invest before the commissioner invests a dime? At least that's the way I look at it. It also saves some trouble with "But I wasn't 100% sure/ready/something came up"

Reporting her on FA using the Trouble Ticket system could be a step in the right direction.
This person owes you money for your work, and if she's blocked you, you will need to go around her to get results.
