loupgaru AKA L. G. Liang Aka funkywolfen@yahoo.com

Be careful with this guy He owes me some work from 3 years ago; and a few other people have been ripped off by him. For $115 USD he eventually sent me 25 low res prints instead of what I paid for. He's banned from Furbid and probably Fureauction; lives in malaysia and is difficult to contact and has a real nasty attitude! EG

I have also dealt with him. Luckily in the end, I got my art, but it took him two years to complete it!!

Yes, he does have a very sour attitude, and does not enjoy drawing furry art anymore. I suggest that if anyone is after any sort of anthropomorphic art not to go to him. He's lost his enthusiasm for it.

If you want other more stylized stuff, he may be a little more enthusiastic about it, but again there's no telling if you'll get what you paid for. He is very difficult to contact and even more difficult to build a rapport with. I'd advise that unless you're fanatical about his stuff (which is admittedly very detailed and attractive) it's not worth the trouble to get it. There are a lot of other more personable artists out there.

From your comments in the linked post: May the fleas of a thousand syphilitic camels infest your armpits; if that's not too cruel for the fleas.

LOL....!! I've heard the saying before, but not for a looong time. Made me giggle.

I'm sorry though that you're having so much trouble with him. You're not the first person either. I've heard complaints from others. :(

that quote was from one of the Hitchiker's series, I believe.

I dunno if your insults and wishes of torture were nessecary, though.... art issues aside, a little much on your count. Perhaps calm, adult talking would have better handled the situation?

Whether or not the person themselves is not a good worker doesn't matter. If one doesn't like the way they work, or are not getting the work they paid for, they should be polite and concise, and if trouble continues, state that you will have to take legal action if the payment is not refunded or work not given (if the payment was large enough), and if not, count your losses, and don't commission that person again. It is INSANELY rude, and looks very incriminating on yourself if you speak in such a childish manner to another person, especially while doing buisness with them

Well, I was hoping to commission something from him... now I dunno. He's extremely skilled, but it's a shame that I only found him immediately when he decided to mostly shun the fandom. :/

I talk to him personaly at least once a week. Hes been VERY VERY busy and having issues that are personal and I wont divuldge, just talk to him in a professional and calm manner before stating this sort of "reaction" because I know this alone would prolly tick him off esp if youve not contacted him on his email or AIM etc first. He may be a harsh/blunt person but hey I would rather someone be honest to me than lie. I think perhaps you might be going about this the wrong way, esp when I know hes way backlogged and trying to finish stuff while supporting his family.

Actualy no you are still incorrect, I can dis agree all your above statements. Ive gotten from him was sent as should be, even if it took a little longer than "most people" I understand that theres life outside the net and furry art... and im sorry but to claim someone has no family is just low and very immature. So im sorry Moldred to say no my answers still stick. Hes quite reasonable with me and thus we help each other out when able even if its thru simple chat/rants. Hes honestly done far more for me than other furrs ever would care to do, and im not just in the "art" department. Hes been a good friend, and when I needed the ass kicking he gladly gave it to check me back into reality. We talk of things 90% of the time that are non fur related like cooking and real life.

I hear this so often with regards to people who don't deliver on trades/commissions. 'Oh, they have issues at home, they have a lot of work on blah blah' Thats FINE, I don't think most people would have an issue with that. We all have lives too, we all uderstand how it is. The issue isn't that people's real lives got in the way, its that the commissioner isn't kept informed on this. Im sure if a mail was sent to say 'such and such happened, im going to have to put your commission on the back burner for a while' or something, no one would have an issue and most people woudl understand.

Its when this info isn't given and people are just left hanging, wondering whats going on, that the problem arises.

I bought a sketchbook from him and received it promptly, well-packaged and I had to sign for it.

Most people who know LG enough to be friends to him and come here and defend him would say that he is 1.) a very exquisite artist who puts a lot of honest hard work into his commissions, 2.) a very onry man with a lot of obligations to his family and work, and 3.) a very overworked person who needs a vacation (especially from the furry fandom).

All of this being said, I stll would not tell people not to commission LG. For the few people who have had problems with him there are many that have gained wonderful pieces of art from his work.

I have found artist's attitudes and wait times to vary. And I have worked with Loup on several occasions as we are both artists who are fond of each other's work. I will even go so far as to say that if we were matching piece for piece, I am the one who owes him art. But regardless. I am simply stating my opinion and my experience with the man. You have stated yours at length, now please allow others to voice their own.

I thought he Left the Fandom already

A lot of people who 'leave' the fandom mysteriously reappear when they need money. Apparently the hypocracy not cross their minds when they disparage furry fans with one breath, but then turn around and take their money with the other.

Sort of reminds me of the furry fan I knew many, many years ago who refused to take part in fannish activities and severed all his ties to the fandom because he didn't want to associate with 'sinners.' However, he seemed to have absolutely no problem interacting with 'sinners' in his workplace, which didn't do much for my opinion of his piety. :/

In any event, name-calling aside, it seems the upshot of this is not to give LG any comission money. Regardless of WHY he doesn't get the work done, people should not send him money until he clears out his comission backlog.

Those of you know me know I have slammed against Loup for various reasons, but I am honestly thinking aside from that.

Loup's pattern is easy to recognize...

He conducts business in a very personal matter. If he respects you, he will make an effort to conduct himself properly. If he does not find reason to give you consideration, you will be set aside. Take your chances.

I do not know of his personal obligations, but refunds and/or simply not taking commissions in the first place is not too much to ask. I myself warn people that any commission may take months, and I am always polite to any reminder of my obligations - it takes no effort to have some tact online.

This is NOT the way professional art for hire is done. If a person believes they can manage to work with someone as temperamental and undisciplined, then that is there choice.

He is what he is, and some may find that to be acceptable. But have no illusions -- there is no excuse for his actions otherwise.

Hey moldred hello.....
Jsut reminding you that i'm still working on your thingy but it'll take awhile as flash takes awhile. Just making sure to report...i've got no progress thats in flash yet since i'm working on style and personal issues (which is my problem so i try not to let it delay my work) but the process is going to take aa long time. Good to see your on here I look forward to seeing your stories as you seem to be a very experienced comissioner.

A simple observation.

This happened 3 yrs ago. Last year you revived the arguement. Now you're moaning again. Get over it. All this simply looks like a personal vendetta in order to prevent LG from making any money by getting commissioned work, in order to get a perverse revenge for being slighted.

Conversely, It might simply be that you've been burned, seen others get burned, and genuinely wanted to warn people.

Your replies to other people here, and obvious contempt for thier opinions, does make the first more likely.

Move on. It would, after all, make you the better man.
