Watch out for Loupgaru

Be careful with this guy He owes me some work from 3 years ago; and a few other people have been ripped off by him. For $115 USD he eventually sent me 25 low res prints instead of what I paid for. He's banned from Furbid and probably Fureauction; lives in malaysia and is difficult to contact and has a real nasty attitude! EG

Date: 2006-05-23 01:06 am (UTC)Yes, he does have a very sour attitude, and does not enjoy drawing furry art anymore. I suggest that if anyone is after any sort of anthropomorphic art not to go to him. He's lost his enthusiasm for it.
If you want other more stylized stuff, he may be a little more enthusiastic about it, but again there's no telling if you'll get what you paid for. He is very difficult to contact and even more difficult to build a rapport with. I'd advise that unless you're fanatical about his stuff (which is admittedly very detailed and attractive) it's not worth the trouble to get it. There are a lot of other more personable artists out there.

Date: 2006-05-23 01:07 am (UTC)LOL....!! I've heard the saying before, but not for a looong time. Made me giggle.
I'm sorry though that you're having so much trouble with him. You're not the first person either. I've heard complaints from others. :(

Date: 2006-05-23 01:33 pm (UTC)All of this being said, I stll would not tell people not to commission LG. For the few people who have had problems with him there are many that have gained wonderful pieces of art from his work.

Date: 2006-05-23 06:18 pm (UTC)Sort of reminds me of the furry fan I knew many, many years ago who refused to take part in fannish activities and severed all his ties to the fandom because he didn't want to associate with 'sinners.' However, he seemed to have absolutely no problem interacting with 'sinners' in his workplace, which didn't do much for my opinion of his piety. :/
In any event, name-calling aside, it seems the upshot of this is not to give LG any comission money. Regardless of WHY he doesn't get the work done, people should not send him money until he clears out his comission backlog.

Date: 2006-05-23 06:59 pm (UTC)Loup's pattern is easy to recognize...
He conducts business in a very personal matter. If he respects you, he will make an effort to conduct himself properly. If he does not find reason to give you consideration, you will be set aside. Take your chances.
I do not know of his personal obligations, but refunds and/or simply not taking commissions in the first place is not too much to ask. I myself warn people that any commission may take months, and I am always polite to any reminder of my obligations - it takes no effort to have some tact online.
This is NOT the way professional art for hire is done. If a person believes they can manage to work with someone as temperamental and undisciplined, then that is there choice.
He is what he is, and some may find that to be acceptable. But have no illusions -- there is no excuse for his actions otherwise.

Date: 2006-05-23 11:38 pm (UTC)Jsut reminding you that i'm still working on your thingy but it'll take awhile as flash takes awhile. Just making sure to report...i've got no progress thats in flash yet since i'm working on style and personal issues (which is my problem so i try not to let it delay my work) but the process is going to take aa long time. Good to see your on here I look forward to seeing your stories as you seem to be a very experienced comissioner.

Date: 2006-05-24 01:19 am (UTC)Conversely, It might simply be that you've been burned, seen others get burned, and genuinely wanted to warn people.
Your replies to other people here, and obvious contempt for thier opinions, does make the first more likely.
Move on. It would, after all, make you the better man.
Re: A simple observation.
Date: 2006-05-24 01:56 am (UTC)1 he made no serious attempt to replace or refund the supposedly lost art.
2 rather than send me copies he claimed to have shredded them.
3 two years after he supposedly destroyed all copies he offered them for sale on Furbid!
4 he said he'd send me the copies and sent his discard pile instead.
ayukawataur (Furbid Admin) has all the correspondence back and forth.
Again: He lives out of legal reach so all I can do is warn others. I had left it all behind until I saw a link for this journal, guess whose name popped in my head?
