A follow-up on Grausig Vampyr

After e-mailing her and asking for my refund, she responded just now. [ I hope I can post e-mails, but to me, I feel no one will TRULY know how I feel when she sends me these biazarre e-mails ]

I wasn't aware I was blocking or ignoring you by not responding to an
email within 24 hours. I do not have all kinds of free time to check
my mail and come online more than once a day. Usually I don't get on
till after 10PM, hell this is the first time I've been on since the
afternoon of the 9th. You got lucky because it was my day off.

I really don't know whats going on but this really is a bit
ridiculous. I get an email saying you just wanted to hear from me
and telling me you'd love to see whats been done so far and then I
get another one 24 hours later telling me this.

Thats kind of immature of someone to think I have the free time to
get online more than once a day even after I tell you I have a
ridiculous schedule. This shouldn't have gone this way and this is
the only time I've had someone have a problem with the time it takes
me to finish something. I'm not blaming this fiasco on you
completely because I know it was my fault for taking so long. Though
as an artist you must know that people go through bouts of art
blocks, especially with things like commission. Some last longer
than others and I've been suffering a VERY bad one if you haven't
noticed by my lack of updates or presence online at all.

Thats why I don't have a job in the art field, cause deadlines are
bullshit and people are too impatient. I'm guessing you changed your
mind over the past day because I had a job to go to and couldn't
respond soon enough. Thats your decision I guess. Your money is
being enveloped as I sit here and type and will be dropped in the box
across the street as soon as I finish typing. Thought the badge IS
done, I will give you a full refund though most artists wouldn't AT
ALL. All business is now null and void. Thanks I guess.

None of that was meant to be offensive and I apologize if it was. It
just bothers me a lot how this turned out. I've had a rather
stressful day and am not in the best of moods to hear things like
this anyway. I guess I apologize for what has happened but I did
learn a lesson about people, friends, and business in the end.

She clearly states she is NOT blocking me. And I have proof that is false. Well, I guess everything has been resolved. Good luck to all of you who want to commission her. :\ Just remember, she has an almighty "JOB" that keeps her from answering you for a year.

As an artist I know that if I'm suffering from an artblock I ask all my current customers if they would like a refund or if they're okay with waiting an indefinate amount of time.
Why is this an issue anyway, I thought she had already finished it?

Yet she takes commissions. The moment you take someone's money you have to act like a professional. That's not bullshit.
I wonder if she thinks stuff like coming in to work on time are bullshit too, I can't imagine she can hold on to any job for long with work ethic like that.

Not only would most artists give the refund, they'd apologize for taking so long and possibly send the badge as well if it's already done anyway to try and make sure a 12 dollar transaction doesn't hurt their business name. Unless the customer's been a total asshole, but I don't get the impression you are.

You can't "apologize I guess", you either apologize sincerely or don't bother at all. Jeesh. No big loss there on the friendship either, who wants a friend who lies to your face? O_o

[ Sorry i didn't respond sooner, was cleaning my room. I'll answer everything in the order they were stated. ]

She made me pay her upfront. I did. Once I did. She stoped talking to me.

She told me three times now that "it's finished" but I think she has no time for me to prove it by scanning it and showing me. I haven't seen ANYTHING aboutit. She never sent me WIP's or anything. I don't even know what it looks like.

For a year now I've been trying NOT to be an a**hole. But I think I've been patient enough and if I am an a**hole for demanding to atleast see what I paid for then so be it. =)

She says "friendship" but she doesn't talk to me AT ALL. There was no friendship, she treated me stand offish the whole time. Friends wouldn't take eachother's money and lie to them.

waiting a year to hear anything about a product you've already paid for isn't being impatient, not unless you've been given an explanation and have agreed to wait longer. I'm guessing she did give a time period in which she would do it?

She hasn't showed me any proof she did ANYTHING. So I think she hasn't done it and is just being, too stubborn. She said she would scan it for me three days ago. And I have yet to see it. I'm tired of waiting. So she's giving me my refund and keeping the "finished con badge"

I did read the whole story. It's totally balls to me.
I always get all my commissions done within 2 months and if it's gonna take longer, I'll make sure the commissioner knows and has up to date progress shots. It never usually takes longer tho. I'm sorry you had to have a bad commission experience. :{

It has *definately* changed my whole mind about commissioning people. I'm nervous that this will happen again, and I'm nervous because I very much dislike making enemies. :\ Thats not what I'm here for.

But, with time, I think I'll get over it, but I will be a lot more... careful about who I choose. =)

Definatly research people before commissioning, and preferably work out a plan to pay half at the start and half at finish ( Or when you get a WIP sketch) D= If the person starts acting shady I'd say go ahaid and try to get your refund before it progresses so far D=

I don't talk to me clients like that. Its a respect factor. She had a year to do this commission, and never showed me ANY of it. I don't even have WIP's to look at. So she has no excuse. She took my money, and gave me nothing. So I'm tired of waiting. You're welcome. =)

I ahven't seen atleast ONE WIP since I ordered this commission a year ago, so I don't even know if she even put a line on the paper. She's not giving it to me because she didn't do it and just won't admit it. =)

Yeah, what about artist's block? I don't think it's a legitimate excuse. It doesn't stop me from drawing when I have those deadlines looming, I don't even have time to think, "Do I feel creative today?" If artist's block is enough to stop her from working on commissions, then she ought to know that and anticipate it and be ready to refund people.

I really don't get... artists block. I draw, and if something isn't coming out how I want it to, I relax, watch TV and then go back to it. Usually that helps. =)
