Alright, so I was wanting a port space and, as luck would have it, someone was offering a port space for art. So I whispered the person and got the deal going. She wasn't really specific, I asked for more details or something. Time went on, I pushed the hours and stayed up later than usual to get it done faster for the person. I showed the image to her, it's a Furcadian Portrait so it was remapped, JPGed and texted... etc etc. Skipping much things said I showed her the finished product, and she asked for the re-mappable version to see it in different colors. Well. I don't hand over my art without being paid first, that goes for any kind of art mind you. I told her that I could make for her an image of it remapped in many colors.. this wasn't good enough apparently, I also told her that I do the prepayment thing. Apparently this was just unacceptable as soon after this a long, drawn out discussion was held. Hmph. I ended up with a port that I put a lot into, no payment. In short, a lot of frustration, effort and wasted time.
For those of you that are on Furcadia I suggest not dealing with Horde/Humor.

It's the user picture/avatar =) It's very common for some players on there to commission and order art from various people to make better representation of their character, rather then the portrait default.

Yeah, Like Neo said. It's on the game Furcadia, like a visual MUCK.. haha, ok not quite. Well, they have a 95 x 95 pixel space in which you can create, and upload your little piece of art into. Many people get others to do this art for them in some kind of barter trade, or monetary payment. I'd be happy to show you some of the cute tiny pictures if you like. =)

Knowing and having worked with you personally the person reacted stupidly.
I insist on prepay from people I don't know after being ripped off or having people accept a peice as it is... then refuse to pay until I essentially redraw the entire peice they just said was "amazing".

Good for you for protecting yourself like that. Sometimes you do end up with someone who's more than a bit paranoid about getting ripped off. It sounds like it was either that or they wanted to scam you by getting their hands on that file.

I wouldn't have even started the work until getting paid. Now, I'm pretty new at taking port commissions, but I haven't yet had a single person refuse to pay first, especially since they're cheap little things, $10 or $15.

It's common to start off and show 'masked' works in progress. She was fine with this whole ordeal right up until the prepay ordeal. I'm nor forking over my art to someone that isn't paying for it first, all businesses deal like that. :p Can't walk out the store without paying the cashier, ha ha.
