So, a certain person asked me to do an exchange with them. They're pretty well-known and they've never gotten any bad feedback that I've heard of.

Summary of what happened:

June 13- We agree on what to make for each other.

~July 15- I mail my side of the trade

Early August- She recieves my side of the trade and takes a picture of herself with it (I have proof she got it, basically)

(some indisclosed time inbetween) She deletes the pictures of her wearing what I made for her except for in an lj icon

September 16- Her side still hasn't come in, I email her asking about it and she says it's done, but she needs my address again. I give her my address again.

November 18- I still don't have what she said she made for me. I sent her another email about it.

What should I do?

-Should I post her name publicly up here so everyone can know not to trade with/commission her? Or would that just piss her friends off and make them start some shitfest with me? She's popular enough that I could see something like that happening.

-Should I keep up emailing and give her one more chance/a deadline, then start shit only if she goes over the deadline?

- Should I just stfu and stop whining? Am I just stupid for trusting someone?

...Or something else all together?

I'd wait and see what she says to this newest email you sent.
Sometimes people are flaky and forget to ship things. *shrug*

i think you should give her a deadline to mail it out. i mean come ON. if it's done, why hasnt she mailed it? if she has finished it, then she'll be able to mail it out by the deadline. if she hasnt, then the deadline will come and go, and that's her last chance! then post her name here, and raise hell. but you are not stupid, nor whining! (also watch out for the excuse after the deadline that would sound like this "oh i mailed it out, but it must have gotten lost in the mail!")

I agree with giving her a deadline and waiting to see what happens. It /could/ just be that she got really caught up with school (if she's still in school) and things got lost in the hustle. If not...it does seem odd and slightly suspicious, just going by the info you've given, that she's taking so long to mail something out if it's supposedly done (and if she lost your address, why didn't she email you about it?).

Either way, do come back here and let us know what happens.

yeah i had the same story too. i have yet to even see the finished product, and now my emails are being ignored. I'm hesitant to post the person up here, but its getting to the point where i am about to.

Same here.. I'm at the breaking point of outting this girl..

She asked me for my address to "send the badge" and I asked for her email because I didnt want to just post my address and she never responded... Oh and I had given her my address once before.. *sigh*

I agree and say setting a deadline should be the last resort--then place her name up here if she goes silent still and refuses to produce what you asked.

Wait for the deadline, if she still doesn't have anything by then post about her.
I've been screwed over in a number of trades and it sucks, I'd rather not trade with someone if they've already not kept up their end of the bargain with other people.
Their friends will probably whine at you, but you can't let people get away with something like this just because they're e-famous.

Agreed. Give her a deadline for mailing it. Insist that she put delivery confirmation on the package if you are both in the States... she she complains about the cost then paypal her $1.00 (the service usually runs about $0.50, if you do it online it's usually included). That way you can prove she mailed it... a buck or two could cure you of a lot of headache.
Good luck!
