WHO: Shivra on FA

WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/shivra/

WHAT: A colored badge.

WHEN: September 2012 - now

PROOF:

http://www.iaza.com/work/121207C/iaza11027880786200.png Paypal transaction

http://www.iaza.com/work/121207C/iaza11027861535200.png E-mail with me giving her my address and asking about the badge months later

EXPLAIN:

I saw that she was having a sale for pelt badges on FA, so I sent her an e-mail for one. She said that she would personally deliver it to me at FurFright. I was unable to find her, so I sent her my address and well... I haven't seen my badge since. :/
She's taken on some more commissions since then. I hope people get what they paid for.

Well, that's disappointing and I don't blame you for being anxious.

Maybe I missed it but did you give her a deadline? (Not that it's an excuse for the lack prompt customer service) And did she apologize or at least give an excuse why she wasn't at FurFright? Or has there just been little to no contact since you commissioned?

That's troublesome. I mean, if I was an artist and promised to bring someone's commissioned piece to a convention we were both going to, I sure as hell would look for them especially if they had already paid in full. (Not to mention you made every effort to look for her as well.)

I think it's a well warranted beware since she won't even bother to contact her commissioner and just brushes things off when asked for a direct answer or won't even answer.

Do you know of anyone else that has complained about not getting their commissions? (This is more for curiosity's sake.)

Oh jeez, I'm an idiot. I've stalked AB for awhile and I've read about her before but I guess the name slipped my brain. Woof, what a history on that chick and she's still selling things? That boogles my brain.

it's reeeeally hard to find someone at a con like that, especially if you're working

I'd say send her another email. Is the last time you tried on the 11th? maybe leave a shout on her FA page?

as long as it's tactful, I think shouts are an okay way of poking people if you're waiting to hear from them

I understand that it might be hard to find someone at a large con (or even a small con especially if you have a stall to run). It just seems a little sleazy to not "make up" for it and send the badge out as soon as possible or at least communicate with the commissioner.

I also agree with leaving a polite but firm shout and hopefully get some kind of response.

Yeah, I agree it's hard to find someone at a con - basically you have to have a dealer table and say "find me at the dealer table X##", or something similarly specific. Or swap cell phones which is pretty risky as an seller unless you have a "business only" phone.

I will ship your badge tonight, I do apologize for the delay. At furfright I publically posted that I was fresh out of surgery and was unable to speak. i did not leave my room most of the con. I do apologize for the lack of response from me.

I honestly don't remember discussing furfright delivery, and I'm sorry I forgot.

I will send you badge tonight on my trip to the post office.

I do appreciate your business! :)

I've had dealings with her as well, promised delivery at cons etc. never got artwork that I paid for. I finally got my handpaws she made after being curt via notes and email. I will say that she is very nice in person but business wise not so great. wish you luck on this one.

This artist has a track record of this. She makes the art, but then never sends it out or loses it. Which is bad if you make badges and stickers. I had commissioned her for a sticker a long time ago and she said she lost it. After some prodding about it, she refunded me. I really wanted the sticker because I like her art, but oh well, at least it wasn't a loss :( Hopefully you have better luck.

I would happily sketch you something out to apologie again for your displeasure with me.

Don't worry about that. We're okay. I do love your art and the loss of the sticker sucked royally, you did refund me, so that's okay. You did make it right in the end. Was just trying to relay experience to the OP and wish them well on getting their badge.

I can understand it being hard to find somebody at a con but she really should have contacted you after it to try and make things right. Ignoring your messages is inexcusable.

We did a badge trade a couple years ago...I think I may have seen a sketch after some reminders, but I don't remember. I've asked her several times in the past for her address, so I can just send her the one I did. Never got it.

A con information form is always good to have while taking a commission from a client. A spiral bound notebook with prefilled out forms is a great way to keep yourself orgianized.

RL name
Email address
DA account Handle
FA account handle
Commission details
Price Paid
Type of Payment *paypal, Check, Debit,Cash*
Completion Estimate

You can also add an RL address in here if you want to. I've switched from using s spiral notebook to using a recipe card box and index cards. where the commissioner can write their address on the back of it as well. SO if I have take home work etc I can flip through my box find their address and easily mail out their works when I get home. It also helps me a bit more because I can organize the commissions by Badges, Digital works, Traditional works, etc. So it lets me kind of know at a glance how much i've taken on and how much homework I have. So I don't take on to much at one time.

Personally organization is a key in dealing with clients.

This is actually a stellar idea.. I think i'll make little print-outs for this for future convention use. I don't usually do much business at cons, but it never hurts to be better prepared.

I do this! I have a little form for me/the customer to fill out with the following info

Name
Email
Commission Type (price if different than a standard)
Description
Mailing Address

The slips I finish at con get thrown away, and then for take homes, i've already got all their info.
