I was ego-googling and found this blog which seem to be a place where a few russian fans of wolf and canine art are posting pictures they've found on the intarspace. I found a few of my pictures there and, among others, artwork from Goldenwolf, Dark Natasha, Thefelinecanine, spiritwolf Timothy Albee, and huskiexxx. Not to mention the blog's background which is a graphic from Kyoths website. ;P

For me and my pictures I'll let it slip since the poster was nice enough to include my name, but there's alot of other pictures there that have been uploaded without any credit or link (or permission to begin with I suppose) to the artist, which I find a bit... rude.

You have the link. Do whatever you want.

I wish people could at least link back to artists' archives.
At least then the artists might get some business out of it.
As is people have to include ugly URLs in the pictures.

Well ... the link you posted doesn't seem to me to be too much of a problem. Sure, the blogger should link to the galleries, but it doesn't seem they're taking credit for the art, are they? I mean, I can't read Russian ...

It seems like a case of not understanding copyrights. They have a link to goldenwolf, sure, but they also edited her artwork several times (I looked through all pages). They turned them into icons without crediting her on them. I think they just need to be told the rules, since it looks like to me they are just posting them because they like them.

Though, if some artists don't want their art up, they should be told about this.

Right right, I was mainly thinking in comparison - it's not even half as bad as all those RPG sites who were using peoples' art as characters, either recolored or in the original form. This person seems to be just an appreciator of canid art.

I didn't see the re-edits, although I'll agree those aren't acceptable.

It's up to each and every artist to decide how they want their art to be used. Many people don't like it when someone uploads their pictures to websites, blogs, image boards and the like without asking first.

Yeah, but they consider themselves art appreciators. Clearly they're not artists themselves, else they'd know better than to do what they do, so not only would it be unreasonable to expect them to know English in the first place, we can't expect them to think of putting that message in English. Besides, they at least had the courtesy to put the message in the header, so Babelfishing would be easier. And guess what? It worked. :3

Not everyone in Russia can speak english though. It might just be a case of the people in charge not being able to translate it and the members not thinking about it since they're not in charge.

Wow, they used one of my pictures as the "Welcome" image. Should I be sad that no one recognized it? I guess not.

Good thing I took a look, cause I don't allow my work to be altered and reposted. ESPECIALLY when the alteration is removing the sig and copyright notice.

Being russian, I can translate properly without babelfish's lovely grammar (or lack thereof :P). Here's what it says.

Notice:
When collecting pictures and writing online, it's not always possible to find the author's name. Because of this, I ask any artists who see their own work not to growl too loudly [aka get too angry]. Just confirm that you ARE the author [or creator] of the work by sending us a link to where the original can be found. The post with your image [can also be understood as just 'your image'] can be removed upon your request.

What the whole image archive IS, as far as I understand, is just a collection of wolf art (there's another word in the description I don't understand fully, though it seems to do with some kind of... shapeshifting... possibly a russian term for anthro, lol). So I don't think this person was intending to STEAL these images, but are just posting a kind of collection.

There has been a rash of websites like these, of people taking others anthro works and reposting them ( many of the people I watch in DA post reports about these sites in their journals ). Most of the time, they are Russian websites.

It's good that they are willing to give credit to the original artists and authors, HOWEVER, they should not be posting ANYONE'S works without getting their permission first. If it's not possible to get said artists information ( which I find to be a lame excuse, as there is always a way to contact someone, no matter how difficult it may be ), then the work should not be placed up.

No permission and no way to get permission? Oh well, tough tookies, then don't display it.

Even still, no permission, no posting. And that's why places like Babelfish exhist ^^;. It may provide really rough translations, but it does the job.
