Two months of waiting on a 'completed' picture

What: Digital art. A drawing of two of my anthro pokemon characters.

When: I sent Spazzy an email back in October 10th 2014 and I got a reply about it on the same day. After being told how long it would take, I've not heard a single word about that commission from Spazzy.

Proof: All screenshots files has a timestamp of my taskbar. I did not blur out the artist's email name because it's the same as the Furaffinity one and I did not blur out my own Furaffinity name to prove that it's me posting those comments in two of the files but my Deviantart profile has my legal name in it so I blurred that out. I used paint to put together a few of the screenshots to lower the amount of files.

The commission mail exchange, I did not hear from Spazzy again about this after telling me how long it would take.

Roughly three months later she announced that she was open for commissions.

Almost two weeks ago where I poked Spazzy about the commission that I had not yet recieved. I didn't get a reply. Included the latest shout on the profile about someone else who's having undelivered art from Spazzy and two comments from her latest journal, both of which got no replies.

Explain: Spazzy accepted a commission from me. I paid her on October 10th 2014 and after that day I did not hear from her about it again. She has though kept announcing that she's open for commissions and several people have been posting their concerns about her not responding to their mails and not being on the commission queue list.


EDIT: I once again today poked Spazzy about my missing commission, and finally I got a reply from her.

However in the mail that I sent, which was the same string of replies as the original commission mail exchange, she revealed that it wasn't done yet but that she would try to get it finished in the next couple days. I will poke her again about it on Thursday if I haven't gotten a reply yet to find out how it's going.

EDIT: The picture has been finished and sent to me. After 4 days I decided to give Spazzy a poke on email again since she said "next few days". She responded 10 hours later saying that she had had computer problems with the latest windows update and that she promised to deliver on it before she headed to bed. She also mentioned that she had been pointed to the two uploads about her on here and she was very apologetic about it. Around half past 5am pst she delivered and I'm very happy with it.

To 180 days was it? If I haven't gotten any word from her by the end of March, I'll use that dispute to ask for my money back... that IS what the dispute option is right? I sent the money not as business but to "friends and family." Did I fuck myself over there? I'm not that good at paypal's policies unfortunatly.

Eep, I hope you didn`t use the gift option. Even if you did I would still try the dispute, personally. An extra flag on her account might not hurt in resolving the issue, if it comes to that. Ideally she`ll just see the AB and get back to you without it coming to a dispute.

I honestly don't remember that bit. Or do you mean that I paid the fee for having the money sent over? If that's the case then it's a force of habit of mine sadly, I'm way too kind for my own good. Even my best friend's pointed that part out about me.

My impression is that you can select options other than Gift, like Payment Owed, under the Personal tab and still be able to dispute it - but I`m really not sure since I haven`t had to do it myself.

That's a very old screenshot. Sending anything to "family and friends" (gift option) removes all protections and ability to file a dispute.

That would answer my question then. I've kept picking that out of habit except for one time when the artist specifically asked it to be business.

An artist on the up and up will understand paying the paypal fee is part of doing business, and won't ask you to try to avoid it, or pay the fee separately. If an artist asks you to do either, consider canceling, as it's a bad business practice.

Well, all I can hope for is that I'll get the commission within some time then. That and once again, I'll start picking the business one from now on regarding commissions. At least the two I have lined up apart from Spazzy are ones I've commissioned before and gotten delivered. Hell, one of them sent me a sketch of it yesterday looking for feedback.

Yeah, picking "Send to friends or family" is the gift option... What you should do is pick the "Pay for goods or services", and then on the part right before you send it should ask you to select a shipping address--you should select "No shipping address needed" (that way Paypal doesn't ask the artist to provide tracking information and such for something that's purely digital).

Friends and family is the new gift option. So yeah, no refund via that method. At least for me.

If what you did was send it as a gift, you have indeed made it so you can not dispute the transaction through paypal to get your money back. For future reference, never send money as a gift, even if the artist asks you to. They aren't supposed to try to get around the fee in the first place, and it takes away your protection at the same time.
