Changing community appearance

Due to issues on some computers with displaying the new S1 comment layout, as well as eyestrain and visibility issues, we have had to switch the community to the S2 style for the comments. This means that the comments page will now look very similar to the community page.

We are in the process of finding a layout that both works with our setup and is easier on the eyes. You may notice A_B changing appearance as we adjust things, so please bear with us.

Feel free to give us feedback on the changes (please keep it to this post or to PMs and email). We will try to take suggestions into consideration, but we are somewhat limited by the layout options we need for the community.

I had to go through the Account link on my toolbar, and it was under the Display options:

Still only available to paid and plus users. I just checked on an old journal of mine that's a Basic account.

And, it doesn't work right all the time anyway if you do have to checked. :x

I have a separate Plus account for personal stuff, and that checkbox is grayed out, saying I have to upgrade to use it.

It could be based on age of the account, maybe if you joined before they made that change?

This is one of those LJ things that I never bothered to use. But I just checked on another Basic account, formerly Paid, and it's still unavailable.

And the account I was using before I came back to this one is a Plus account, and it's also not available. I would guess that older Plus accounts (since zippiner's account is a year is older than my last one may still have access to it. (Their jounal was created in 2008, mine in 2009).

Yeah, you've got a Plus account, it's on your profile, next to your user pic.

Those are the ones with the ads (which AdBlock will take care of) and 15 icon spaces.

I think at the time your account was made, it was the default setting for new accounts. 's okay. :3

Ah, good to know. I think I'm Plus but have adblock so wouldn't surprise me if it was an extra feature that Basics don't get.

Edit: Seems like some of the Plus accounts can access it, but others can't.

Yeah, I was reading the other comments. It must be an account age related option, even though that's pretty strange. Although this is Livejournal so it doesn't surprise me. Both my accounts have the option, but they're both from 2003.
